There trying to make them cheap and like an LG. If this was my choice now I would have gotten the slide in version at $1300.. It feels cheap and the edgeless glass top has kinda a rough edge.

Really disappointed and hope they improve upon this design.

They're all the same.

We have a Whirlpool and it's not much different. Same goes for the Frigidaire's. I think they're fine.

Don't count on it!

Haier now owns GE appliances.
However, if you compare the closing weight of a GE slide in model, you will notice it feels substantially heavier. They are still made in Hamilton Ontario by CAMCO, the Canadian GE division.

It feels cheap because it is

I have the impression Electrolux has decided to make Frigidaire 'builder's grade'. See a lot in new homes, an awful lot. Always cheaper looking and feeling than the equivalent Whirlpool.

And worse than GE by a long shot.

Has the Haier purchase gone through? I thought it was tied up in anti-trust, still.

I bought a JB750 Last Year and Boy has it gotten Cheapend

The comparable frgidiare felt heavier...

I bought this stove last year.. Mine has the high brow looking control panel, a power boil tri ring right front burner, and a few other oddites missing

i do notice this one has dual 2 ring burners and the power boil is on the right, which would be nice on mine, but the tri ring burner is so nice and fast... Boiling water in under 3 minutes

This maybe the last stove I'll ever buy... I intended to collect parts for it and keep it going as long as I can... i've even ponderd buying a second later on down the line used....

This is *THE BEST* stove i have ever used, including my 2007 GE Profile Dual Fuel back east...

It replaced a 20 year old Frigidaire Gallery which worked well, but the display had gone out and the burners where getting a tad weak... It was free off craigslist 3 years prior, as the one that came with the house was busted and i couldn't use it right with the placement of the controls (a 1998 Whirlpool slide in)

I had a 2007 Whirlpool Gold TOL in my orior house, and the touch pads never worked right and where the oven vent was it would steam them up and cause havoc... It was a "known" defect I was told

LOved the stove when it worked right, but wound up chucking it out in my garage as a second and getting a Gas Frigidaire, that was, well so so

So was the new WHirlpool BOL Gas Stove in the house prior to that

I have several favorites, my current stove a TOL 1959 GE J408 in yellow.
Also have a 30" TOL 67 GE P*7 in the basement for overflow cooking and a matching 40" that needs some work. Growing up I loved my grams 1965 40" P*7 range which other than a few trim details and the oven window is the same as my 1967s

The worst range was the 2007 Kenmore smooth top I bought my mother, the oven never stayed calibrated, the cooktop thermostats constantly quit working and the oven vent caused all the paint to peel off the console. It was a horrid Frigidaire rebadge.

A close second would be my mothers 1993 Frigidaire, the oven was great, but the stovetop was incredibly slow, they were encapsulated steel burners.

Panthera…I'm with YOU on that!

HATE me some 1/2 arse quality. My own preferred appliance mix here at home runs the gamut from 1963 to the late 80s. My personal experience with ranges: I own a very similar Jenn-Air to the one in the pic here (mine does not have downdraft vent in center). It's a 1988 build, and not only is it brilliant to use, versatile and still not dated in appearance, the build quality is palpable--and next to the schlock being offered in most appliance stores, this range is just off the charts. It will probably outlive me. Yes--that whole upper assembly is solid stainless steel with a milled aluminum backsplash. VERY solid and all U.S. made before things started being farmed out….

Personally, I kinda like the GE ranges with the curved top control panel. If I had to have a brand new range, it would probably be a GE self cleaner with the Calrod burners.

Personally though, I'd rather avoid anything made after about the mid-90s, maybe some early 00s era stuff, but really no later if I had my choice.

I agree Frigidaire seems to be BOL builder stuff a lot now. I see a lot of Frigidaire in houses that were foreclosed on and remodeled by Fannie/Freddie. The side by side fridges seem to be ok, but I'd rather have a Whirlpool/Kenmore/Amana/whatever other label if I was buying a new one. Then again who knows, the Frigidaire could be built better, I just like how the Whirlpool has metal handles and an actual drain for the dispenser whereas the Frigidaire has plastic handles and a grooved tray that probably will mildew.

I digress...

GE Range

I chose a GE range over anything Whirlpool because of the Whirlpool Sweat 2 Clean self cleaning oven. They are horrible. My GE has both. A 30 minute Sweater for light cleaning and a traditional cleaning cycle for heavier soils.

WP AquaLift

It's a joke, nothing but complaints in the appliance forums.  I think WP developed it to keep the tree huggers happy.  As unhappy as uses are, I think WP should cease offering this technology and get back to what really works.  I would like to replace my 32 y/o Hotpoint continuous clean slide-in range.  I want induction and 2 ovens.  The only slide-ins that come close to that configuration are Jenn-Air and KA and they both only offer Aqualift.  The 2nd oven is a baking drawer and isn't self-cleaning.  I refuse to have something like that after living with CC for 30.  I'm really pissed at WP.  They announced, but still haven't been able to start selling in 18 months, A WP and KA branded free-standing 30" dual oven, both self-clean, and induction.  The WP was sold for a while, but it had problems and they pulled it.  And with GE being sold, I don't have much hopes.  I don't want radiant heat flat surface either.  We are messy cooks.   Induction is the compromise between gas and electric. I have always liked GE's heavy-duty oven racks which can stay in the oven during SC cycles.  I really wish GE would come out with a double-oven induction range, preferably like the double-oven smooth top they have offered for several years.

storms this afternoon put the kabash

on grilling out, so I stopped by here.
The steam clean cycle I think is meant for light soil on the oven bottom. Spray water, or the recommended cleaner, and set it. Wipe up the remains when it is finished.
