yay! After months and months of doodling with the innards of this baby, I finally got it running!

My lil new daily driver, an early 50s Westinghouse 8" desktop fan in metallic dark pink/rose.

Now its time to clean it up. The motor stopped running several months back and I kind of just left it disassembled. Well I was bored so I threw it back together and oiled it up. Mmmhmm. I love this lil fan.

Stupid cage design makes it near impossible to reattach the cage once its off. Ill have the fan collector in lincoln slap it back on for me. i dont want to damage the fan or the mint finish!

Thats paint splatter on it btw.

Love this pic. My new profile picture on the fan forum!

It reminds me of an old single prop airplane.

Very nice--glad to know that I'm not the only one that likes vintage fans. I bought a couple of Allaire's at Restoration a couple of years ago--all working fine--to be a reproduction (and even follow the L-M-H settings as they should.

It is quite surprising as to how powerful these little fans are. Ive noticed that it is far more powerful than the desktop I have used for so many years at night on high speed.

Its a great little workhorse. I like it.

I don't know much about the different brands, but NOTHING beats the slight buzz of a metal blade fan...perfect thing to drift off to on a lazy summer afternoon.

My grandmother had two big box fans that she kept in the kitchen on the floor - they were brown, but sort of a milk chocolate 50s brown....would love to have one of those, no idea what brand they were.

We also had a "foot stool" floor fan, round, 3 blade...would love to have on of those, but have no idea who made it. It was metal on top (you could sit on it as a child), had louvers on the bottom...not much to go on, but any ideas?

Oh, Brandon, almost forgot!

You need to find a copy of this picture for whatever room you have the fan in. I have it hanging in my extra bedroom, sadly I don't have the fan yet.

Thanks for sharing all!

The green thing behind the westy is a hassock fan. Its really cool. Real quiet too.

PS
Really love that picture! These westinghouse fans were really popular for sure back in the 50s. They came in a variety of colors. White, grey, pink, blue, and I think I once saw a sea foam green one. (some other colors too I believe)
