I noticed last night on a cooking show Alton Brown they showed the refrigerator and some of the items were clearly Publix store brand items, but the Publix in a black circle was all blacked out, so that all you saw were black circles. I remember some shows used to do this if they didn't have a paid endorsement.

I don't recall if I've seen it on a cooking show before or not.

One that I remember most was the cover over the GE medallion on the side-by-side in the kitchen on Golden Girls, probably for political reasons. You could recognize that the crappy food processor was a GE as well as the ADC (coffeemaker) on the counter. The stove was a Whirlpool like was in an apt. I rented in the 70s, chosen, I guess because it was a drop in / slide in so it did not block sight lines. The strange thing was that the dishwasher was not visible.

I do remember food labels being turned to the back of the refrigerator on more than cooking shows.

Something I remember, maybe belongs in "Favorite"

Not TV, but a Comic Strip, the hillbilly possum family in POGO lived in a discarded Maytag washer & dryer, and not a center-dial, but actually the next generation push-button model editions, that clearly from a few cues you could recognize The Dependability People making their stuff suitable for animals dwelling in, in a woods or a field...

General Electric vs. Politics: Please Explain!

OK, I think there was a Rice Krispies cereal box on Sanford & Son that I believe only said "rice"--and not only was "Krispy" blocked out, I think there was no Snap, Krackle & Pop...

(Fred made a "sort of reference to it", I think, saying to an Oriental cast member on the show, "I might have some RICE in the cupboard"...)

About the GE fridge on Golden Girls: That medallion on it looks like an "A" emulating the Eiffel Tower... And besides the fact it has an ice & water dispenser that was never used, what was there about Political Reasons and GE?
