Re: Sorry to hear:

Hi! Compwhiz128, sorry to hear about this person's Death. I'm sorry to have to ask this, but may I ask who these people are? Are they relatives, friends or neighbors of you? I'm not sure if you have mentioned about them before on the Club Site, if you have I've missed any writing about them, please forgive me, if that is possible that I don't remember for sure...

I've been dealing with the loss of 4-Women within these past few weeks whom have Passed-Away. I know that it is the "sign of the times" of Age, but it is sad to loose loved ones, no matter who they are to us.

You have my Condolences of your loss, let me know if you would like someone to write an E-Mail too to co-respond too anytime.

Peace, Prayers, Friendship and Hugs, Steve

Here is a wiki entry for John Romero

Alfonso John Romero (born October 28, 1967) is a famous figure in the computer gaming industry. He worked for id Software from its founding in 1991 until 1996 and was involved in the creation of several milestone games including ''Commander Keen'', ''Wolfenstein 3D'', ''Doom'', ''Doom II'' (in which Romero also appeared as the end game boss) and ''Quake'', as well as serving as an executive producer on ''Heretic'' and ''HeXen''.

Romero later co-founded Ion Storm Inc. in Dallas, Texas with id co-worker Tom Hall, where he designed and produced ''Daikatana''. The game's critical panning damaged Romero's reputation, who received popular blame for questionable development decisions worsened by his name being hyped in the game's early marketing. In particular, an infamous 1997 ad (by Ion's then-CEO Mike Wilson) with the slogan "John Romero's About To Make You His %(#%)" upset many people. Romero left with Tom Hall immediately after the release of Hall's ''Anachronox'' game and the subsequent closing of the Dallas Ion office. They then co-founded Monkeystone Games in July of 2001.

Romero is as much known for his temperament as for his games. The constant delays and subsequent critical panning of Daikatana were reportedly due to constant internal disputes in which Romero became noticeably enraged with co-workers. Another incident of Romero's temper was reported by co-worker American McGee when in response to the doorknob on his office door constantly jamming, he took a chainsaw to the offending door and removed it completely.

Between 1999 and 2003, Romero was involved with Stevie Case, a prominent female gaming industry figure who beat him in a ''Quake'' deathmatch. Until their breakup in early 2003, Case was the COO of Monkeystone Games. In mid October of 2003, Romero joined the team at Midway Games as Project Lead on the next game in the ''Gauntlet'' series. While he continues to maintain his working relationship with Monkeystone, Lucas Davis now runs the office.

In 2002 he put his Ferrari up for auction on...

Wow...sad to hear that John's dad passed. Commander Keen, Doom, Doom II, Wolfenstein 3D (and Spear of Destiny), Heretic...LOVED playing those!! Especially the Commander Keen Series...I have every episode from 1, the Invasion of the Vorticons series, to 6, Aliens Ate My Babysitter (and the shareware version of "Keen Dreams")! The 90's 386-and-up games are my favorite.

I bought the complete registered version of 1-5 in 1999 as a CD, and I think it's still available. Unfortunately, Episode 6 (aka Aliens Ate My Babysitter) was produced in conjunction with FormGen software, and FormGen has long been out of business (calling their 1-800 number now gives you a private residence if you can believe that!). That episode did come in the ID Anthology series from ID Software, but it was the CGA-only version. The remaining copies are SUPER-RARE, and I eventually wore the original Episode 6 disks out...can't seem to remember how I hung onto the copy, but I still have it on my computer...that was the first CK episode I played, at age 6!

I forgot the episode number for Keen Dreams (3.5 or 4.5 I believe), and don't know if there's even a registered version...if there is then I would definitely pay some big $$$ for it! The shareware version is pretty primitive, with no music...it's still fun though!

eBay is the place to look for the Commander Keen games...
