Hello Everyone,

In my last job I was friendly with some of

my customers. One lady who was a Widow finally

bought a new car in 2002, and wanted me to see

it. I stopped by her house. I nearly fell

over when I realized the house was still all

original, as Zamore had designed and built.

She still had her complete yellow GE Wonder

Kitchen, and she loved it. So did I. I told

her one day I would save it.

Sadly, she passed earlier this year and the

house went up for sale. It was a lot of

work, and stress, but I was able to retrieve

it. I got all the cabinets, stove top, and

the textolite countertops. Hopefully soon, I

will be installing it in my kitchen, which I

have left alone since moving in, until what

I wanted came along.

My plan is to combine these cabinets with

my set of Turquoise appliances, I retrieved

from another house in 2012. It will be a while

before mine is done, but I will post pics

when it is. I'm really Happy I finally got

it.

Attached are pics of it in the Original house.

Thanks for looking.

Congratulations. They are beautiful and look to be in wonderful condition.

Congratulations Louis!! Those cabinets look to be in great shape - bonus that the original dishwasher and cooktop are still around.

I can't wait to see what your 'new' kitchen will look like!!

THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR KIND WORDS.....

I really appreciate them all, and I LOVE this

site!!

Re: D.W.

I really wanted to save the D.W. for my summer

kitchen, whenever I get to that one, however it

was in really bad shape. It had not been used

in a Long time. It had standing water in it.

The pink epoxy was all peeled up around the

Impeller/ Calrod area. It has evidence of

overflowing as there were white calcification

lines going down the back of the exterior of

the tub. The rear interlock switch was rusted.

There were severe rust blisters around the top

of the tub below the gasket in some spots, and

holes right through it in others. The perimeter

below the gasket was collapsing. The sealing

plate was siezed in the up position. The cabinet

was a Rusted mess, as well. The tub was difficult

to roll out and back in, and the wires and pipes

had been hacked apart.

I did save the gasket, which is still good,

the racks, and utensil basket. My friend took

them for his Mobile Maid. I also took the

Yellow front panel and am keeping that for myself.

I feel bad about it, but I just couldn't save

it. I do have a 63 Turquoise Hotpoint D.W.

that will be going in the main kitchen, so I

am not completely without.

Sorry guys. It was in Bad shape. And believe

me, my place is overloaded because I hold on

to, and try to save everything. One day I will

be purging a lot of extra stuff.

Best Washes to All,

Too bad.....

Too bad about the dishwasher but it sounds like you really investigated it before letting it go. Still, all in all, a great find. Congrats!!!

Thanks for the Thought Paul....

It would have been to have it, but It was

an added bonus, as I have a Turquoise

D.W. for the kitchen. I would have used

the other one in the basement kitchen.

However, since it was not salvageable, I

will return to my original plan for the

basement, to get an electric sink. That's

been on my list for quite a while.

Thanks again to all for the nice comments.

Best washes,

Louis
