Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Congratulations Dick! Another great Kenmore. One can never have too many belt drives, when they are classics from the 1950's. And brand new too!!

How is the pink 57 set doing these days?

Wow Dick, those are absolutely amazing!!

I am still amazed brand new or little used machines this old still exist!! Darrell is an awesome friend to do that for you!

I would love to come see your collection some time (if you allow visitors) and I'm not too far, just a 2 hour drive.

Congrats!!

Great vids; I love how those era of Km have "D" shaped

tub openings... for Darrel or Dick !!!!
Both the Frogeye and the Hamilton wanted to stop
at Lake Shasta and rent a houseboat for a few days. I said
"Sorry guys; you both have heaps of High Desert Laundry
to process!"
Isn't it fun to have a 30 lb motor powering those strokes?
That Frogeye has real decent turn over.

It's is just that.....

...Brian, absolutely incredible that a machine like that with so few known to be in existence could show up in brand new, never used condition. Oh, and I mustn't forget the new Hamilton dryer. I'm so fortunate in that I could be a part of such an unbelievable experience.

Even tho' the Frogeye completes my collection of Kenmores from the earliest being the "bolt down" thru the 50's and into the 60's (and I told myself I was finished and could relax) I'm still haulin' them home like mad. I need to post my coppertone early 60's GE V12s, my later LKs, etc. ((--:: and get more video posted.

Jeff, I feel the same way you do about the 66. When I hauled it home, it was to be used for parts to keep my old 50s Kenmores humming. Well, after cleaning it up and doing a load, well, it's now hooked up and part of the crew.

James, thanks so much for sharing that incredible story of your neighbors late 60s Kenmore. What wonderful memories of old machines from our pasts we have locked away. They are wonderful to bring out and replay every now and then. Glad I could be a small part of that.

Rick, the 57 LK set is just great. Just washed a load in it last Saturday. (I try to rotate all the machines but it is hard) Hopefully this year I'll get around to doing a restore on the 57 80 series I have. It's just one level down from the LK and looks almost identicfal to the 57 LK.

And Kevin, by all means, it would be great to have you out to look at the collection sometime. This little cabin I live in is begining to look like all washers. I mean they are overflowing on almost all sides and then some. ((--:: I must stop this insanity!

Oh, which reminds me- Smitty, I'm glad you like the vids and the 66. BTW, the green geek with the glasses on in one of the pix-I haven't the slightest idea of who he is-Must have been hiking or riding his horse and just stopped by and climbed up in the truck.

Dick,

You know this thread, among others, got me thinking about what this club does. We all have a lot of machines that are going to end up in museums, etc. one day. You have a nearly 60 y/o machine brand new and, being taken care of like you will, will last a very long time. Imagine when our machines are 100 years old! True pieces of American history we have that will be irreplaceable. I am so happy you got the surprise of your life. It is truely amazing!

Can't get enough

of watching that video of the 66 Kenmore. Dick, I just realized that by the low amount of suds during the wash cycle, you were probably using Sears detergent. I remember you mentioned you like using it for it's low sudsing in the vid of the 57. If that's what you were using here, that is one more thing your video has in common with my story above because that is what my neighbor used. It just gets better.

Have a good one,
James

Hi Darren,

You'd be better off launching a new discussion about this in the "Super" forum.   The member who launched this thread over ten years ago has left the group.

We do have other members in the PS area, but I don't know how extensive any of their collections are.
