It's been a while...Lady Kenmore Dryer MOD. 110 88390 710

I was just minding my business, waiting for the light to change when I spotted it at the curb. Never seen one in person in the toast color, so, yeah, in the truck it went. But wait, there's more, along with the dryer, was a matching Kenmore 24"washer,  the rarer model with the control panel on top. I couldn't fit it in the truck along with the dryer, I had a bunch of other stuff. So I thought, OK, I'll race home, drop of the dryer, come back and pick up the washer. I got back, and some ass had gotten to the washer, removed all the knobs, ripped open the back, took the timer, water pump, did a real hatchet job. Damn, and I was only away 20 minutes. Oh well at least I saved the dryer.

1975 would match the woodgrain control panel....

yet 1985 would match the color...I would go with this one.....

looks to be in great shape for 32 years old......

You know Martin, I was a bit confused when I saw the trim, which suggested an older machine, but it was painted toast, that suggests a newer machine. I wonder if this was tinkered with far more than I originally thought. As I mentioned, the knobs are not of this machine. Let's see what it says when I open it up. But I really think this is more like an '85.

Model year

This is definitely an 80s model, the first 8 in the model number after the 110. indicates the decade.

This is an '83 model made the 18th week of 1985. The Lady K portables did have all that fake wood on them in this period.

The knobs were a medium brown color, even on those with a white cabinet, and had a chromed center insert.

Good luck with the dryer, it looks lightly used.

Hey thanks Gordon for the clarification. It does seem to be in good shape, just really dirty as usual. I can imagine the horrors that await when I open it up. I imagine it's going to be a complete tear down, clean up job.

Well I am finally getting around to finish this dryer. Ordered a few parts for it. It's already cleaned, motor cleaned and oiled. It's partially reassembled.

 

Now I need knobs. The knobs that came with it are incorrect and damaged. Sooo, shot in the dark, anyone have any knobs they are willing to part with?

You're lucky they replaced the broken knobs with something similar instead of using pliers to turn the shafts.

 

We had a Magnavox TV that I swear had something evil in the metal tuner shaft  that destroyed the cheap styrene plastic shaft of the tuner dial. We should have bought them by the gross or, if my brother and I were older, figured out a way to reinforce them with metal tubes or fishing line and glue.

Replacement Knobs

Hi Louie I am sure I have knobs for this dryer, you and Martin should come down and get them and Martins Resource-Saver Washer.

Love the color of the dryer, Louie! Too bad about the washer getting stripped before you could get back for it.

And, boy, do I get your frustration. We toured a house for sale a few months back. They had a matched set of Frigidaire MultiMatic and condensing dryer in the laundry room. Left a note with the selling agent that we'd love to buy them.

Hah - new owners not only weren't willing to sell, they ripped them apart and dragged the pieces out to the driveway to be carted off by the metalman.

I happened to pass by, stopped the car, went over and asked, whether the agent had given them my card and the offer to buy them.

Was told that the agent had, but they had no desire to accommodate a Democrat.
