Laundress, It's had to see, but there is a griddle in the middle. Those are strange burners to cook on with the heavy steel plates of varying dimensions between the flame and the pans.
Actually, Western Holly did make a 1947 model with the two burners in the middle...AW.ORG post:

For a good laugh: the Western Holly looks like to me(and this will sound absurd)...a stove cooktop with a pair of Bendix washer/dryers below. I watched too many cartoons as a kid.
