Thanks for all the congrats and birthday wishes! Now I can g

Bob, first, thank you! It has been 9 wonderful years and I am so glad to have known so many collectors for so long now! Second, you're right! It does! One of my cousins also pointed out to me that it looks very much like an oven too. Especially the picture in the dark with all of the dryer's lights on! Third, I hadn't even read the manual yet... Thanks for the tip! I bumped it up to level 2 which is 15% more dry, we'll see if I need to bump it to 30%! Did you know that it doesn't even come with the drying rack? There is a little slip of paper that came in the plastic bag with the manual on how to order one! A $1,300 dryer and it doesn't come with a drying rack! (Not that I paid anywhere near that much!)

MaytagA710, the lint trap is up front, it's the same filter as the 27 inch Whirlpool machines!

Greg, isn't it gorgeous? I was debating on whether or not to get the red one but, it turns out the red is more of a maroon color and it's got the "pearly" paint. BLECH! If it was a glossy blood red, I would have gotten that color for sure! But I am very happy with this glossy jet black! It's almost the same as the Electronic touch pad DD Kenmore machines! I can't wait to see how they compare next to each other!

Spiralator60, the load of towels in the picture was the very first load so I hadn't learned about the dryness setting yet, when it was done everything was still damp so I had to start it again. I think it ended up taking about 50 minutes. I'll time it next time! (Those towels were only spun at 710RPM and dried on low heat!)

Mixfinder, thank you! I do work very hard and earn every cent myself to pay for these machines! Let's just say that as someone who is now 21 years old, I have spent over $1,000 a year on washers and dryers... Since my tenth birthday.

Georgect, If I wanted the TOL version, I could have gotten the Whirlpool Vantage dryer, that has a stainless steel drum! But I'm not about to spend $2,500 on a dryer. lol

Jon, the dryer is jet black! Very pretty! Also, I don't iron. That's why I bought this steam dryer. :P A friend of mine is a real estate agent locally and he sends me pictures of all the vintage washers and dryers he sees when he shows houses. The other day he sent me a picture of a beautiful Ironrite 95 that appears to have been kept in the living room of someone's house all it's life! Not a hint of rust and it appears to still be used! He asked me, "What the hell is THAT thing?" lol

Very cool dryer Jamie, and Happy Birthday! The window in the door reminds me of an old console tv. Kind of looks like a picture tube! Very nice!

CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR NEW DRYER

And happy 21TH BIRTHDAY I was just talking to a friend in Florida tonight who sells appliances at Lowes, and he asked what I thought of these large WP built dryers and I told him that they are probably the best dryers ever built for home use. Is yours gas or electric? A year and a half ago I gave my mother the WP version of the steam dryer in gas and she just loves it.

I think it is generally a waste of money and precious resources to make dryer drums out of SS as the power coated drum will last at least 50 years, I think it is better to put the money into thing like the four roller drum support for the drum unlike the junk that GE and Frigidare build.

My dryer is indeed GAS! I prefer gas dryers when it comes to performance, but electric dryers are just so much easier to install/uninstall and there is no worrying about a gas leak and they can be vented indoors! Sadly though, I already have 4 220V appliances in the laundry room and there isn't enough space to add yet another 220V outlet on the circuit breaker panel! :S

I have gotten the hang of gas dryers though and I'm pretty confident about installing them now. :)

Stainless Steel Dryer Drums are a waste of resources???

Me don't understand.  Is nickle in short supply?  Will to world soon run out of Stainless Steel?  Does anyone still have a Delorean they can recycle?

I just says'n that at $1,000 for a dryer, I would like mine to sparkle inside, that's all.

Beautiful dryer, Jamie! You are so going to love the steam refresh feature for getting wrinkles out of pants and shirts that haven't been worn enough to warrant washing.  If you can add steam to a regular cycle, you'll find loads of shirts emerge less wrinkled, too.

STAINLESS STEEL

Yes nickel is in short supply and a large % of it comes from China. So often when it is used for things like dryer drums it ends up being so thin that it is noisy and gets little dents in it easily or gets bent out of round. On the Samesung dryers it is so thin I have seen several that crack and split where the drum rides over the support rollers. And Samsung won't cover the part after the first year, they want over $300.00 for it so every dryer I have seen do this has ended up getting crushed for scrap.

If you do want a real SS washer and dryer SQ has an all SS pair that is made of a really good grade and thickness of SS including the dryer drum and bulkhead. They don't work a bit better and cost another 1,500.00 extra for the pair, but they are cool looking if you don't mind sending all the cash to China.

China has made significant increases in internal production levels in the last three years and is snapping up mineral mining rights all over the world. They control approx. 97% of the rare-earths mineral deposits (you can't build a computer without the Chinese) and they have more coal than you can shake as stick at.  China is the Saudi Arabia of minerals and is saving up the S&H Green Stamps we're selling them to buy Africa

I know a couple of people that have the Samsung dryers mentioned before, even at only a year old I can hear the lack of solid construction and cheap materials.  I bought a two year old Whirlpool Gold 27" gas dryer with the steel, powder-coated drum  and the noise level is half that of the Samsung.  LG isn't much better.  Time will tell, but if you're looking for work ...
