You would need to plan your kitchen remodel or new homebuilding plans around this unit, what a beast to move! So cool though, did Western Holly make any electric ranges, ovens, etc.? Would love to have a dishwasher to match with the round window too.
Imagine the heat. Imagine the fumes, all of which have to be pulled past the cook to get sucked into the hood. Cringe at the clostrophobia. Imagine banging your forehead on the shelf when you go to check a pan on one of the rear burners. I will give Western Holly this much: they put a screen around the broiler burner that glowed red hot in the flame to give some infra-red heat. It has been well cared for. I hope it finds a good home.
There have been several of these for sale lately one copper-tone and a pink one. The only good thing about these [ other than the cool round windows ] is that being built in an alcove like this the hood may at least catch most of the deadly gas fumes and the hugh amount of heat that gas cooking produces.
Of course, if I had this, I'd have to have either the '67 Westinghouse Laundromat DeLuxe twins or Bendix twins either next to or across from it to continue the round window style.I'll bet it's as heavy as,if not heavier than, a Chambers.
Bit surrounding the range, and just have a new fan/hood (but how to match that beautiful color?), instead.
First time I saw a Western Holly port hole oven door was in the film "Pleasantville" and have been hooked on them since.
Guess when this range was designed women were't so tall, and or left off their cha-cha high heels when cooking! *LOL*. Though what would June Cleaver have done in that situation?
