J408 Liberator Knob Removal

Can anyone tell me how to remove the knobs (for cleaning) on my 1955 J408 Liberator? They don't just pull off; do I need to go in from behind the backsplash? Thanks

Knob Removal

All 7 knobs in your picture just pull off, they may be a little stuck after 60 years so you can squirt a little penetrating oil on the shaft behind the knob if you like.

or grab them while wearing rubber gloves or use one of those rubbery can opener pads to improve gripping. The knobs fit on D-shaped shafts.
