jam nuts on a Maytag

Which way am I supposed to bang the monkey wrench on the jam nuts so i can screw the feet down on the Maytag a806 in Harvest gold washer

I do not to wreck the nuts or the legs

I gotta screw the feet down as far as I can I hope the vibration will stop

The laundry room on the main floor has got a cruddy floor and bad support

Leveling a Maytag dependable care washer

You want the washer is low to the floor as possible don't extend any of the legs further than necessary. Once you get the machine level, tighten the lock nuts up against the base of the machine tightly

The further the feet are extended the worse, the stability of the machine, if the floor under the machine is weak take a three-quarter inch piece of plywood at least as big as both the washer and the dryer Glue and screw it to the floor every 4 inches and then put the washer and dryer on top of that, the other solution would be to get a washing machine with better suspension.

On Wednesday I did a service call this week on an A1 08 1980 Maytag it was dancing all over the basement. They had the feet screwed practically out of the machine and the lock nuts were not tight of course it also had a bad damper Which really made it bad, the customer was in it for the long haul. She bought the Maytag in 1980 so she decided to buy Speed Queen front loader from us.

Yeah the a806 Harvest gold is going to be run sparingly due to that floor

But i am going to get those damn jam nuts down

Need to oil them as I cannot break them loose

edit no oil

broke the jam nuts loose took the rubber mallet wrench

Smacked it to the left

Loose jam nuts

Now going to screw the feet down to the base and level 4 ways

the back jam nut is locked to the foot

do i use the 3in1 oil on the jam nut instead of wd40

Use penetrating oil, and then lightly oil the threads once you get an imposition and tighten the jam nut.

Sometimes the nut is so badly rusted to the foot. You just have to replace the entire foot assembly. Just take one from another junk machine.

You were right the feet were extended all the way out of the machine

It is better but still vibrates

level on all sides

so it is that crappy floor in the crappy addition
