JC Penny Dryer in Chicago

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Quick question guys - who would have manufactured the matching washer to this dryer? I spotted the matching washer a few weeks ago, but the thing was UGLY and rough. I thought it was a GE, but the tub was completely different and didn't look anything like a GE. It had fewer drain holes compared to a GE, and the agitator almost looked Hotpoint-ish.

GE made for JCP with Hotpoint features - filter ring, ramp agitator in lower-end models and Handwash double agitator in higher-end machines. Hotpoint had a long history with JCP, Penncrest laundry were Hotpoint made for years. It's funny that nobody has found any of them...

Those JCPenny washers had the hotpoint agitators and instead of having the filter flo pan they had a filter-flo ring mounted around the inside perimeter of the inner tub. It filled with a 90degree spout where the normal ge spout would have been. This was their version of self cleaning lint filter. OK I guess. but cleaning relied on the lint flying off during the spin portion of the cycle. The lint was suppose to slide down the tub and eventually exit through the pump. It didn't work that way though. I took several apart and found gobs of lint stuck to the upper portion of the outer tub. and it would smell after a while. Not a good idea.

I like the BOL cheapo Whirlpool. lol. And they must too since they are not selling it. I would keep it too. lol.

That petite 24" washer could easily be put inside the MASSIVE capacity dryer- "for convenient storage" I'm sure, or be served raw to the dryer as a quick snack. Gulp, Yum ;oP
