JetDry Solid - 4 Washes and it's almost gone!

My Rinse aid dispenser leaks so I haven't used it in a long time, otherwise, the machine works great. I bought (3) 2 packs of JetDry solid to use with the Cascade institutional powder. I always use pots/pans with high temp wash and the total time is about 90 mins with no dry cycle.

I remember using these in the past and they lasted quite a long time, but look at this. This is only after 4 or at max, 5 washes. It works great though!

Could be the high temperature wash is making it dissolve faster. Shouldn't be the case if you used it in the past though, and never had problems.

Mark-- Is your rinse aid dispenser leaking into the door? There was a big recall over that a few years ago. They were leaking into the wiring/electronics in the door and causing shorts, resulting in smoke and sometimes fire.

Funny this topic should show up; I saw solid rinse aid on the grocery store shelf recently and wondered if they had been reformulated to accommodate the super long cycles on new dishwashers. Apparently not, LOL!

The faster it dissolves the sooner you have to buy another one. Bother, but try only putting it in for the rinse cycles. That's when it's supposed to work anyway, right?

No. There is no recall on mine. I called about that a long time ago. The rinse aid dispenser started leaking a couple of years ago. Rinse aid will run down from the dispenser and you can see a stream of it slowly running down the door to the bottom of the tub. I googled it and had no trouble finding others with the same problem. My dishwasher is from 2005, so it's not as NEW and doesn't have extreme cycles like the newer ones. Even the pots/pans and hi temp wash on mine runs about 80 minutes, which is a far cry for 2 hours plus on some newer machines. I think it's got to be the hi temp wash doing it. I can tell a difference using it but I can live without it if one basket is only going to last six washes. I'm guessing two more washes and its gone.

It really wouldn't be a big deal because finish powerball has rinse aid in it. It's just that I have this case of institutional Cascade and I don't have a way to use rinse aid other than the baskets. I don't really want to spend money fixing the rinse aid since the machine is over seven years old. The detergent part of the dispenser works fine.

To find solid rinse agent meant for commercial automatic dishwashers.

Wearing gloves crack take the lid off your JetDry dispenser and refill from the solid DWRA. Close both securely and that is that.

Or, if you only wish to use rinse agent in the final rise keep a little of the soild DWRA in a tightly closed plastic container. As the final rinse starts simply open dw door and chuck a small amount inside the washer, close door and let again that is that. Same could also be done with liquid rinse agent.

With so many restaurants and other establishments that prepare/serve food closing it normally isn't that hard to come upon overstock supply at very good rates. One container should last you years.

I used to use these years ago in a kitchen Aid  and one would last ---- like months.  It was also blue in color.  Perhaps try using it in cycles with lower temps to see if that makes any difference.  How many times does your machine fill and how much water does it use...maybe these were designed for short wash rinse cycles.

To be clear - I've never used the solid rinse aid in this machine until now. This is the first I've used. I've used solid in the past machines before and they lasted a long time. I guess my dishwasher uses a fair amount of water. It's mid-range white whirlpool tall tub from 2005. On pots/pans it fills for prewash, then drains/fills for main wash, then washes quite a while, then drains, rinses, drains, rinses again. I'd say total time is 80 to 90 mins.

My dishwasher doesn't seem like it runs a terribly long time compared to those in the past I've used. I always remember dishwashers running over an hour and to me that's normal. Not sure why it's dissolving so quickly, because it is my understanding that dishwashers have always heated the water, whether it has a hi-temp option or not.

I can get by with not using rinse aid. I have for quite a while with pretty good results, but not quite as good as using rinse aid, so I thought I'd try it.

Ask around someone who either works in a commercial kitchen and or owns such equipment may let you purchase a full or partial container from them. Or, seek out closeouts, damaged goods, and so forth.

Sometimes you can luck out on eBay with Ecolab products. Others seem to know what they've got and won't sell below a certain floor. IIRC that case of EC rinse agent has been on fleaPay many times with no takers.

Thanks Launderess. I started a new post but I should have just added to this one. Wasn't thinking!

I decided a week or so ago to just pour a little liquid rinse aid in the dispenser before running a load since it's a slow leak every time I start a wash. The indicator is about half full and after a week I see nothing coming out at all. It seems I remember when I FIRST had this problem three years or so ago, that the liquid rinse aid I was using was a very thin consistency. I remember thinking it was thicker. Perhaps the thin consistency was why it was leaking? I don't know, but this rinse aid I have know is a lot thicker, and it's not leaking. Another thing, I remember turning the level from 6 to 3, maybe that didn't something. I don't know
