And just where does it say on Flowers Foods website that minorities need not apply for management jobs? Board of Director jobs usually come from within the company.

You are trying to make an issue where an issue doesn't exist.

Just heard a news bite on the radio: The company now making Hostess products is downsizing the number of bakeries from 11 to 4, and they'll be making some healthier products, as well, including gluten-free---which seems to be all the rage these days.

I'm certainly not knocking gluten-free products or those who require them; but it seems those products are being advertised/sold to a much wider audience base, many of whom probably have no intolerance of gluten.

I love this.........

As for the literal shelf-life, Rich Seban the president of Hostess, is quick to refute the snack cake's fabled indestructibility.

"Forty-five days — that's it,"........... "They don't last forever."

I think a lot of people have bought into the gluten free products as being somehow healthier than the non gluten free version of that product. That's simply not true. Gluten Free was designed for a special group of people.

Have you ever looked at the dietary contents panel on Twinkies, Ho Ho's, etc.? Most possibly the worst I have ever seen. I cannot remember the last time I had a Twinky. Maybe in the early 70's?

I freaked when I saw the side of the box of my Pop Secret Movie Theater Butter microwave popcorn---specifically the trans fat, which is 4.5 grams per serving. They consider a bag to be about 3 servings. Right. I can eat the better part of a bag in one sitting while watching a movie. But I digress. Since trans fat is the truly dangerous one, it is recommended you eat no more than ONE GRAM of it per day. You do the math. I threw the remaining bag out, and am going back to an air popper, adding a touch of real butter.

Back on topic: I can only imagine what the nutritional profile of Twinkies must be...[this post was last edited: 6/24/2013-15:03]

Allen, nobody claimed they can't apply. But clearly they don't get hired, judging from their executive board.

Also your claim that I'm making an issue where none exists is ridiculous: I'm not claiming an issue does exist. I'm saying the entirety of the company's management is white. If you're in a position to know that the management of Flowers Foods isn't a bunch of Georgia Good 'Ol Boy racists, let us know how.

As for Twinkies, it is healthier to eat the box they come in.

But still bad enough to give Twinkies a grade of "F" as far as nutritional values go. I have always seen Twinkies sold as two packs or in the box. If you buy a two pack, do you eat the second Twinkie or throw it away? And what do you think most people will do with it?

It's still a companies right to hire who they want to work for them. Could it be that no eligible minority candidates have submitted a resume?

Oh yes, you are trying to create an issue just by pointing this out and trying to read between the lines. So what if their BOD is all white. There are a lot of companies that have all white BOD's. And please let us know that you have confirmed them as a bunch of good ole' boys so you can properly demonize America, one company at a time!

Last time I checked there was no law stating that you HAVE to place a minority on your board of directors. At least these companies didn't fall into the trap of "tokenism."

And if you look at their BOD, most of these guys have been with the company for many years. So could it be possible that openings don't happen on the BOD very often?
