Just cleaning up a Lady Kenmore.. some pics

A long overdue cleanup... This was a range picked off the curb a long time ago - 20 years ago or more. It was stored in a garage for a long time after that, before it came into daily use.

I wasn't a collector back then (too young, and I'm still not really, although I've come to have a few nice things), so it wasn't maintained all that well or kept minty.

I finished cleaning most of the knobs so they're shiny. These things were metal and hefty! They indicate Moffats Inc 1964. RZ 600 seems to be the style.

The oven is next to overhaul. I believe there was a fire at one point, and there's a lot of peeling going on.

Here's the console. There's paint from an old pot that must have boiled dry. Tough to clean that. I'll have to look into getting a replacement. The paint is also coming off the console cover. You can see the fluorescent light from under the top cover. The "cool white" contrasts with the warmer range hood light. I'll change it later with a warm tube.

Close up of the clock and oven controls. The glass is still dirty but I'm working on that. It's much nicer than before. When the "Minute Minder" goes off, it's a slow *ding* *ding* *ding* ... It's not very loud but it's nice to hear a real bell.

I don't have the instruction manual for this thing, but most of the operation is basic, and can be summed up as follows...

The centre label. There's an automatic roast control! I have never used it though.

You can also see the 8 fuses. One for each element - 4 on top, 2 in the oven. Two for the lamp, rotisserie, and left/right outlets.

Finally, the right label.

The right-side outlet is marked AUTO. The outlet itself is cracked, but doesn't pose a problem (yet, anyway).

I would definitely have to read a manual for modern ranges, but this one is quite simple to just figure out. The labels in the top cover help you deal with the less obvious timing / automatic functions.
