Mom had a mid 50's Kenmore Satellite sort of a salmon pink,, like the Saturn above but without a power nozzle. When I look at those 1959 prices, how much would that be in todays dollars?
HI Pete well if they are on ebay they could go high in fact Fred's kenmore was on ebay and in fact I was going to bid on it but when I saw Fred had bidded on it I couldn't be against him as he is a friend and a fellow vac member of our vac club. I don't know if He would want it known as what the winning bid was but I will say it was higher then the 1959 prices and about my whirlpool, I just it alot cheaper then if it was on ebay but still it cost me well about 100.00
The "Lady Kenmore" 1959 vacuum--my stepmom had one of those--used it as a kid-hers didn't have the powernozzle.Liked the "wheelbarrow" design and the "tools on board"so is tools on board --New?It was a really nice machine-it got lost in a flood in 1972.That machine worked alongside my dads 511 Kirby. The attachments for the Kirby were missing.Don't know what happened to them.My Mom says she used to used them when I was very little.
Regarding Whirlpool uprights:
I believe David Oreck long ago bought the rights for the Whirlpool-designed compact upright and.. the rest is history.
I used to work at a bank as a kid and we had both the pre-Oreck Whirlpool upright and a very similar Oreck upright. The Whirlpool was made of metal and was black and white in color. Always worked fine.
I think Whirlpool is probably scared to pieces about vacuums and can't wait to dump Hoover.
Comments vacuum experts?
Its interesting how people today complain about the cost of vacuums, and other appliances today. They like to compare paying todays prices to the prices of the past. Interestingly, the cheapest Kenmore canister shown there would cost $191.30 today, and the Lady Kenmore with powernozzlewould cost $766.17. If anything, we don't pay enough for our appliances today.
