Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Unimatic 101

The winning bidder got that machine for a steal, new Unimatics start around several thousand dollars. Consider also the machine was MIB, uncrated, brand new.

Unimatics have a very interesting rinse, the extractor uses a patented diffuser to eject a fine mist into the tub while the drum spins at a lower rpms (time is operator controlled), then ramps up to final spin speed to spin all the water out.

Thank You to Laundress!

Thank you for the link. I note this company is an Alliance affiliate. That being the case why do you suppose they use a "Surgilator" agitator rather than the SQ type? Also Who do you suppose make the mechanism? Very interesting, I would think fun to play with! -Steve

Alliance Laundry Systems

Alliance Laundry Systems has several brands of commercial/coin laundry equipment:

Speed Queen
Hubesch
UniMac (see PeterH770, got it right this time)
Ajax
GeneSys

As to why they chose the agitator they did, cannot answer. IIRC Alliance Laundry Systems makes all their own washers at several plants located in the US.

What is funny to me about the auction, the seller states buyers should let him know if the item will be delivered to a residential address. How many homes have 480v 3 phase electric service? *LOL*

However with a max final spin speed of 1750 rpms, think of how fast laundry day would zoom past!

Says it was in storage for a while, maybe whirly was involved, with unimac, in the past?

SQ agitator

While picking up wash with a friend from a cleaner-dry cleaner service in the Vienna VA area-they had a washer extractor similar to the UniMac-theirs had a straight vane SQ agitator in it.Could not tell if it was a UniMac brand machine. When I looked at the Allinace Laundy products doco on their commercial TL machines-you could get a choice of either the straight vane SQ agitator or the Undilated (wavy-Surgilator like) vanes. It was the same choice as offered in their new household line machines. When I lived in an apartment-they had two types of SQ machines-both had Straight bladed agitators.

Agitators in SQ

Hi Guys,

In AU, the Commercial coin op SQ machines seem to have the Straight vane agitator.

The Commercial SQ machines without Coin op and Kleenmaid, such as those used for laundries etc have the Surgilator style agitator with a fabric softener dispenser.

I dont know why, but thats just how it is.

BTW the agitators are interchangable from one machine to the other, but the Straight vane agitator seems to be rated at 8.1kg where the Surgilator only goes up to about 7kg.
