KA 23 Dishwasher

I knew someone that had this dishwasher it worked really well.
This was the last of the well made machines. It is definatly worth being saved.

By the 23 series you can see that WP was already starting to cut corners with the control panel, and the upper wash arm became plastic....but still better built than the SS series that was later to come. At least as far as construction and styling was concerned.

Thats my old Dishwasher! Well, not mine, but thats what we had!!! it was black and just recently replaced with the Bosch Integra series... What a nice dishwasher it was... I think that it was the last one that used the percelain tub, before they went to Stainless... It was sorta quiet, and did a good job washing, but it stopped working and now we have the 46 DB rated Bosch that cleans excellent!

now we have the 46 DB rated Bosch that cleans excellent!

So are you saying that the Bosch is better than the KA? How 'bout capacity?
I love my KA and I thought the Bosch capactiy was somewhat smaller.
Please advise.

The bosch looks smaller, but it still hold 14 place settings.. It has all the same adjustments as well... racks go up and down, alot more flexability with the tines etc... Its a tad smaller but it still holds just as much as the KA did... Its so quiet and cleans much better. Energy is also saved as well! All in all, the Bosch is better then the older one... Ours cleaned but it started to leave gunk on the dishes... Yuck! The bosch also get VERY hot (161 F ) and uses such little water.

I work at Sears, alot of people dont like Bosch because they dont have a hard food disposer... It has the trap, but what people fail to understand is that it is in fact has a self cleaning filter. The water gets so hot and the water pressure is so great that it dissolves everything and is then purged by the pump. It doesnt chop, but Bosch calls it "Pulvarized" After listening to a cycle, you hear the pump draining all the sediment in the trap every so often. Pretty neat...

So yes, I think that its a better machine then the old Kitchen Aid... Then comparing a new KA to a Bosch... It comes down to: Do I want near silent, or ProScrub (same thing as Kenmore TurboZone)

I could go on All night about the differences and similarities between all the major brands!

Speaking of Bosch

I used to do this as a kid, but the old GSD500 with porcelain tub did not hold my weight and one of the door brackets bent....badly.
I guess EU machines are built to withstand people on them.

Try this with a modern day WP and you'd fall right through the door!

I dont know if I woud let my kids do that... It could be VERY dangerous... Ive seen a few kids do this at Sears and get trapped inside the dishwasher... The WP/KM models that have stainless tubs can support ALOT of weight, but the plastic ones... no way!

Gary's KA is the last of a breed that is now dead. Just walking into any appliance store in the early 90's when this model was on display,...to put it bluntly made every thing else look like cheap shit...including the Miele's and whatever Bosch was pushing at the time.

I think they were probably the Maytag's of the dishwasher scene.

The drying is very good! (as long as a rinse agent is used) I have yet to see any water left any where!
