It is a KDS-17a. It has the "No-Heat Dry Energy Saver" option button.

Hope you have lots of cheap hot water the normal cycle uses over 19 gallons of water.

How is that possible? Weren't fills then about 1.1 gallons each?

No Steve, most wre over 2 gallons. Think about how much water D&M products used per cycle. And remember that GE TOL Potscrubber with the rapid advance timer, that's sometime part of a lineup that's a POD, it used clsoe to 14 or more gallons and you even made a note of that in the ensuing discussion thread.

My friend Marcy had this same model until this past spring, when she moved into a condo. She bemoans the fact that she had to leave it behind when she moved. Marcy's machine saw no abuse whatsoever, it was only her, her sister Myrtle, and her other widowed sister, Hertha. Marcy and Myrtle were never married, and Hertha's marriage produced no children. I know it's older than what you are looking for, but you wouldn't be sorry in the least. Fixing the door spring is a piece of cake, and for $35, it's a steal. Go for it!

I've been thinking about this machine ever since I posted the link here. I've been holding out for a 21 or 22 series, and am trying to go for the most contemporary look possible with the control panel so as not to get my partner howling. Everything else in our kitchen is higher end stainless and only a year old. I was hoping to get a KA without the simulated wood in order to match things up better, but very little has been on CL lately. I'll mull this over some more.
