Anyone in Canada with a Liquidation World nearby they have KA Pro Line 4 slot models clearing for a measly $40 Cdn.. that's about $35 US.. reg retail about $250-$300. Certainly not worth that money since they're made in China but I bought one regardless for the collection.. better hurry they were near gone.

That does look like a good price.

I was in a Costco Business Center yesterday, and took a closer look at the Waring Commercial four slot toaster. It's quite heavy duty, can do toast continuously (they gave some figure in the hundreds of pieces of toast an hour). I liked the fact that the heater plates were solid, not loose wires, and the ejection had a soft landing to it - dampened if you will. The whole thing is 1800 watts which is probably the limit of a 15 amp circuit all by itself. Standard 15 amp 110 volt plug on it. It's made of heavy gage brushed stainless. The price, however, put me off: something like $240. I don't do toast enough to justify that kind of expenditure. But if one ran a diner... lol...

PS-Be careful. Whirlpool did a recall on a number of KA toasters because they could auto start themselves if power is interrupted. This caused some fires when people left flammable things on top of the toasters (thinking they would be safe, I guess). Don't know if this one was recalled, but you could check with KA/Whirlpool and probably get a free fix if it is in the recall batch.

This is a great deal. We have the two-slice version and so far have been pleased with it. The thing weighs 10 pounds! We got it for about half the regular price at Tuesday Morning.

It has a 3-prong plug if that's an issue for some people.

Terry,, no it doesn't LOL It weighs a ton though but that's all show to be honest. A lot of heavy metal cladding around a $10 chinese toasters innards. It's hard to see in the pic but the price tag on the top left originally was $369,, then $199, then $129 finally $40. It doesn't toast any better than a $10 toaster either and it's not automatic. You have to switch either side on with the switch which starts the elements immediately, lower the toast with the lever and when it beeps and the elements shut off you have to lift the lever up, no pop up feature. So really you're paying waaaaay more for less, but it is stylish, kinda like me, all style and no substance HA.

Forty Bucks?

For a toaster?

Does it shampoo your rugs too?

Way too much for a toaster.

My 1950's Toastmaster was $5. It makes it dark, just the way I like it.

Thanks for the info Pete, I guess we can see why it ended up at this place for so little. Oh and by the way, you have lots of "substance"!!

KitchenAid's KPTT toasters are absolute junk. Their KMTT models, however, usually rate at or near the top in comparitive reviews.

It's so sad seeing KA reduced to crap like this. Is their reputation not worth more than $40?

I've learned to like the non-automatic feature of this toaster. You can check for doneness any time during the toasting cycle without shutting down the toasting process. Yes, you have to lift the lever yourself when it's done. But if you don't get to the toaster right away after the beep, the toast stays warm in the well. Check out the toasters at coffee shops and many will have a similar arrangement.

Also, the beep is handy. What does a regular toaster do to signal the toast is done? In particular, a Sunbeam Radiant Control model. You have to keep your eye on it because it's silent. You have to listen for a regular toaster to hear it pop the bread up. So I have no problem with a beeper.

I do agree that it's no faster than other toasters, but disagree that it's Chinese crap (Chinese yes, crap no). KA offers a no-nonsense complete replacement warranty on these machines if anything at all goes wrong. I do agree that they're way overpriced, but have no idea how they compare to other overpriced brands like Dualit. Anybody out there in a position to compare & contrast those two makes?
