When recently cleaning out my mother's attic, I discovered a Kaiser dishwasher. I can only make out part of the serial number (DI-300), but would like to find more information on it. I seem to recall reading somewhere that the dishwashers may have been given away when buying a Kaiser automobile. We did have a Kaiser around 1954, and I'm wondering if that's how we got it. Also, I'd like to know if there is a market for these dishwashers and their approximate worth. Any information would be appreciated.

Hi, Pat. The Kasier-Frazier library site is gone from the net, so I'll try to give you some convoluted info from memory. If I remember correctly, the dw's were only produced for a few years in the 1940's (I believe from about 1945-1948 or so). Mine is a DD-1 made August 23, 1947. from what I remember, Henry J. Kaiser had come out with a soap that he was selling at the car dealerships. To move more soap, they developed the dw. Unfortunately, it didn't last. I'll try to post some links.

Thanks Pat for posting this, do you have any memory of your family ever using this dishwasher? Can you believe a 5 min. cycle??

Unfortunately, I don't remember anything about the dishwasher. I also found an old Maytag wringer type washer in the attic, and I can remember my grandmother using it. However, the diswasher was a complete surprise. As I said in my original post, we did have a kaiser automobile around 1954 (actually had a Fraser too) but i know we bought the Kaiser new, and somehow I want to associate that with the dishwasher.
Do you have any advice with regard to selling the DW. Would Ebay be my best option? Any ideas on worth?
Thanks

It appears to have been used, but in very good condition, No dents or anything. I will try to get photos if you are interested.
