These are (I think) amazingly quiet for what's going on in there.

I might bring mine in from the "Showroom" for a few days. I just hope yours won't need a drain valve as I'm thinking they are non existant at this point.

I changed mine 3-4 years ago and with the help of stevet... he found me 1 of 2 of the last NIB Valves from Hobart. Very Pricey too.

If you ever need to work on the pump, the bakelite trap under the drain valve is non existant. I sprayed mine with WD-40 and wiggled it for about 2 days. You don't want to break that.

Eddie, thank you.  I've never even seen one of these in person. My cousins had a KD12 in their first house.  It wasn't used much, this was 1972.   But the few times it was run, I remember it being relatively quiet for what was ogoing on inside there too. 
 
Hi Bob.

Those Cast Iron Wash Arms (aka Big Blue) have a tremendous coverage pattern. My KD2 actually wiggles with all that water being thrown around but is amazingly quiet.

Racking is everything in a One Armed Wonder. This machine cleans Very Well considering it has only One Main Wash followed by a 30 sec. Rinse and then a 1 minute rinse.

KitchenAids before the 18 series were and are truly Dishwashers. Yes, you could scoot a few pots and pans in the upper rack if you have room, but cooking for one or two, I like to throw everything in and "Git er done".
 
Eddie, based upon photos in the manual, I think I'd like loading a 2P better than a KD12.  You can move the dinner plates to the far left or far right and load them toward the front that way if ya wanted to like in the example shown.

Bob, You can rack alot of plates in that lower rack as you see. Glassware is sketchy as today's design of glasses have changed, but my glasses fit fine. Wine glasses, Forget about it.

I was amazed when I found this machine on the Cape. The couple I bought it from were Very Young. He was helping me load the machine in my truck and said "Wait a minute." He then went into the back of his car and pulled out the Original Envelope with the instructions and these...
