As some of you already know, my partner and I will be in the USA and Canada for 8 weeks from July 18 - Sept. 12.
We'll be visiting and staying with a number of collectors while there and the highlight (for me anyway) will be our trip to Beltsville Maryland and experience the Wash In at John Lefever's warehouse and meeting a number of other collectors.
I've been discussing with John over the past few months about the logistics of bringing back a 20ft container of vintage plus a couple of new Speed Queen machines back to Australia!
Yes....it's not exactly cheap but probably the only chance i'll get to do this.
John has kindly agreed to sell me a few vintage washers and dryers and Don (Jetaction) kindly sold me his KitchenAid set which are due to arrive at John's in the next couple of days.
There's one brand of machine I'm specifically keen to try and source while in the USA: a Norge or Montgomery Wards washer. I've been checking Craigslist each day and so far nothing as yet.
I'm open to the age of the machine but I have a leaning toward the later perforated basket models such as the one in the link.
Happy to negotiate a price and can pay via Paypal if you have an account.
As to where a machine might be located: I think the West Coast is probably a bridge too far regarding transport costs but I can easily get a quote from Uship for other parts of the USA.
