They're getting hard to find now..a number of years ago Manitoba Telephones was I think the only N.American phone company (not tied to Bell like many were) that actually offered them for home service so it wasn't uncommon to find them at flea markets etc elsewhere, not anymore. Most of the non Bell related companies tended to use GTE and AE over Western and Northern Electric equipment. Somewheres in my piles I have GTE's first touch tone home deskset with speed dial memories,,you have to plug it in for the auto dialing to work, other than that it looks like the standard 60s-70 home desk phone

Oh Jason, you would have loved the house where I went to a gathering last night. It had the early 60s style blonde cabinets with the big round silver hardware, but it was equipped with an avocado green Kenmore electric range and Coldspot refrigerator. Had it had a dishwasher, I expect it would have been a roto-rack Kenmore! It also had one of those wildly-patterned vinyl floors of the day.

They are keeping the knotty pine!!

Thanks to all the suggestions and input everyone! Lisa has decided to keep the knotty pine cabinets. So they will "knot" be replaced, but refinished instead. Message to Petek...Scott does not want to move to Canada,SORRY... :)
The kitchen will not be remodeled until next year,as both Lisa and Scott are sick of house projects for this year. (and I don't blame them, the nice weather is finally here!)
I will post pictures of the updated 1959 kitchen, with the refinished knotty pine cabinets next year when it is redone.
Thank you,
Rick

Holy cow!!! That kitchen looks exactly like mine. I'm constantly torn about tearing it out and installing new. My wood is pretty beat up and alot darker from age and cooking grease.

re beat up wood

If you have any scratched medium or dark wood look for a bottle of Aero scratch cover/polish, comes in light or dark liquid, there's another brand as well I can't remember the name. The stuff is fantastic for making antique wood items with scrapes and scratches look like new again, good for cupboards as well.
