60 series KM washer

Hi Chet,

Sears had a very common habit in the mid 1970s to early 1990s to offer 60 series machines using timers with complete cycles or partial cycles deactivated, as you have surmised here.

This is a 1990 60 series. My guess is that there is at least a Pre-wash there, but almost looks like enough room for a pre-soak too. Not a delicate, that is what the Short cycle is here.

In 1976 and 1978 60 series KM belt-drives, they use the timer that many 70 and 80 series machines of the same period used, but with the Pre-wash deactivated and 2-4 minutes of the delicate cycle inactive, turning it into the Short cycle by way of a single speed motor so that agitation was done at regular speed. If we look up the 1976 and 1978 models online, they use the 381860 timer found in so many MOL workhorse models.

So I looked up this model number, but found no timer commonality to a 1988 KM entry 70, a high end 1988 seventy, or even an entry 1988 80 series. I also looked at the one 1990 70 series, none shared a timer with this 60 series, so I am unsure if there is an inactive cycle there or if Sears simply used a less complicated 3-cycle timer here.

Sorry that I can’t say for sure.

This is just the reply I was looking for, I can't thank you enough! As suspected its either one or the other- a deactivated cycle or a stand alone 3 cycle timer.

It's alright, I'm having the same difficulty. I can't nail this timer down with other common timers or similar models either. I love a good mystery.

Do you know where service techs obtain tech sheets for Kenmore washers? I'm searching service matters, Sears, Appliantology, Harry's ect and nothing is coming up for this model.

Ok, timer comes up as Part #3351119

For the model in question its Timer 3351734.

The timers are very close, but not an exact match. I feel like this is one of the few model specific timers I've come across.

The tech sheet would give it all away.

Edit: The 3351119 timer is NLA with no substitute while your model has a substitute Part #285952. Leading me to think this was a unique timer specific model that did not sell much off. Your model on this other hand I know is a common model, it would pop up frequently is scrap piles along with the model below it which had no ATC but still had the 4 cycles and of course the models below that which had some cycles blanked off.
