Video - 1970's Portable Kenmore Washer

Here is the quick video. You may notice in lieu of a water level switch, there is the option when the desired water level is reached, you can advance the timer to start the agitation / stop the fill in the wash. Though, the rinse will continue to have a full level of water.

Questions...

First, very cool little portable Kenmore washing machine!
I LOVE IT!
😃🙃🙂🙃🙂🥰

1st question;
Does this washer have the lever on the back of the cabinet, to make the wheels come out, so that you can roll the machine about, where you want it, and then you move the lever to pop the wheels back into the bottom of the cabinet, so it doesn't move while you use it?

2nd question;
Is this a 2-speed washer, with you getting a slower agitation on the DELICATE cycle, on the timer knob?

I was thinking about getting a white portable Kenmore washing machine that looked just like this little washing machine a few years back, with the one timer knob and the chrome strip across the top front of the cabinet, just like this one. and it had the lever with the stowaway wheels on it.

CONGRATULATIONS
On getting such a cute little Kenmore, and in Harvest Gold!
😃🥳🥰

Two Speed Motor

This washer originally had a straight vane agitator with no fabric softener dispenser. I changed the agitator to a gold Roto Swirl and I was able to find a gold fabric softener dispenser. The motor is a two speed. There is a large lever to lock the washer in place (see photos below) Great washer!

I find this one interesting.....

a single fill valve, for sink only hook-up.....or you have to add a "Y" for a permanent location, and adjust temps at the faucet.....

and this one is a two speed, three cycle.....PermPress, reminding yourself to turn off the hot after the machine starts for the cool down care....

the one I had I guess you would call convertible....double fill valve/multi water temps, water level selector.....

still a fascinating machine.....

Portable BD WP built washers

The WP editions were more often convertible while the KM models were designed to be portable.

This is the great thing about the portable models is like portable DWs they often got pushed aside and were not used much or at all so some really low milage ones show up.

Enjoy your great little washer.

Looks great, Bob!

Hey, first off, it's been many years since we first met. Perhaps when the pandemic travel restrictions are lifted, you'll make another visit to the big city!

Love those belt-drive portable machines! Great agitation action!

Had one. Gave it away. Wish I kept it! Maybe another one will surface near me. And if I'm really lucky, the dishwasher attachment for my Thor will be sitting next to it in the basement! Yeah, right. Hey, one can hope!
