Hello everyone,

A 1969 Kenmore 800 series washer with lighted control panel has been offered to me for $150 dollars. The seller says it works well but not spin heavy loads. She say it needs a new coupler. I think this would be a belt drive.
1.Is this a difficult job to do

2. Due to the coupler issue and age of washer is $150 to much to pay. What would be a good price to negotiate.

3. Would a coupler be available?

I would really like to have the washer
My questions are:

Model #: 110.7104801 or S710480A00
Serial #: C10501743

Thank you for any help you can offer.

Tommy, Losangeles

This washer was built the 5th week of 1971. It would be a great machine but chances are the drive system needs a complete rebuild. It’s definitely worth saving but it’s going to take some work to put it back at the top of its game. While there is no coupler on this washer, my guess would be either the bearings are bad, there is something wrong with the spin tube, clutch, brake assembly or a combination of all. Even if it is something as simple as a loose belt this washer won’t last much longer without a total drive system rebuild. But doing so will allow the machine to go on for years to come.

The clutch is a possibility not allowing it to spin but the belt tension coulee be very loose as well. While my 1963 RCA Whirlpool Imperial Mark XII works fine at the moment I’ll need to replace the bearings since the upper bearing is now making noise but I put some grease on it to squeeze a little more life out of it though. Will need the bearing installer tool and I do have new bearings for my Whirlpool but I have no way to install them since I don’t have the bearing installer tool :/

Oooh, a matched 800 set. One of the bet, most flexible Kenmore pairs ever made. Tis was my teenage years washer. Accurate dryer. These are 3rd down from the LK.
