Kenmore BD question

Would anyone know what kind of year, or model this kenmore is. It only gives one picture, and later il, ask the guy for more pics so I get a more detailed approach at what this is.

I also have one more question. I am not good at knowing what is what, but a few years ago, Lorain furniture (or Eugene), did a giveaway of a washer that looks super similar to this one, and I was wondering if they were that same model. He said it was a 1978

Looks like the exact same model my parents purchased in spring, 1976.

It is a Sears Kenmore Model 70.

It was built between 1976 and 1978.

I grew up with one as exactly like this one.

My parents got one in August 1978 (which replaced a 1967 “24” BOL Kenmore).

It is in fact the same exact model.

It was a/it has a

. Large Capacity Machine
. 2-Speeds with 4 Cycles (and ours also had a Sud Saver)
. Penta-Swirl Agitator
. Agitator Mounted Fabric Softener Dispenser
. Self Cleaning Lint Filter
. Off Balance Switch with Buzzer

Three or four models down from the Lady Kenmore (which was 2-Speed/13-Cycle Machine that year), but definitely not BOL.

Kenmore 70

I can’t remember what some of the hallmark differences are between the 70 and 80 series machines as they always seemed so similar. Porcelain tops maybe? This one was a popular model for sure with the four water levels and Penta-Swirl. But you upgrade to the 80 series and you get three water levels and a Dual-Action agitator. Personally, I liked this model.

A little Penta-Swirl porn for you. She was dirty at the time. They’re great agitators. Don’t let the gentle swirling looks fool you. They’re powerful.

1978 70 Series

Hello everyone!

That is a 1978 70 series.

For reasons unknown to me, Kenmore made a console print-only change to the 70 for four years running, with the 76 having Knit-Delicate in one cycle box. The 77 was split with Knit and Delicate separated into what looks like two cycles (but it is not), then the 78 moving back to the 76 single appearing cycle but with a ‘Knit’ setting at the 8 minute mark. For 79 it reverted back to the 77 style two cycles, but they had ENERGY SAVER notations over temp and level settings. All the models were essentially the same otherwise. 1980’s console was unchanged from 1979 for the entry 70.

I have a feeling the one in this ad is a suds model —- check below the 14 minute wash mark on the console. It says Suds?

But if you wanted to back then (but I didn’t, because that was my mom’s machine), you could change out the Penta-Swirl, and upgrade to a Dual-Action agitator in a 1976-78 Kenmore Model 70 if like or if you wanted to.

And actually, you could’ve done that exact same thing with your 1974-75 Lady Kenmore as well if you wanted to back then.

But if you didn’t want to do that, then that was fine as well. Your Lady Kenmore is fine just the way it is (beautiful machine btw).

But had I inherited my mom’s Model 70 back then, I definitely would’ve put a Dual-Action Agitator in my Model 70 back then (and somehow, would’ve found a Model 80 or Model 90 Dryer S-S-S (Solid-State Sensor), Wrinkle-Guard, Drum Light, and Full-Width Door).

I would’ve inherited Washer #5 (and changed to a Dual-Action Agitator), and would’ve picked Dryer #2.
