filtering system and arm operation

Does this have a food chopper or removable filter? Do the arms alternate, run at the same time, or both? I am anxious to know about this dishwasher. I'm thinking about using it as my daily driver. I hate washing dishes by hand, so I am not gonna complain. I may request that my personal attendant wash the pots and pans by hand, while I use the dishwasher for everyday dishes.

I had a Kitchen Aid clone Kenmore Elite. It never dried very well, but it did a good job of cleaning. After 6 years its main motor failed. I replaced it with a TOL Kitchen Aid. It doesn't dry very well either.

dishwasher drying and observations

I want to make some observations here. First off, I tested the dishwasher and ran some Cascade dishwasher cleaner through it. I've noticed that the pumps were dc driven pumps as opposed to the AC ones. I believe these run all arms at once. It's the model starting with 630. I actually have dry assist activated and rinse aid set to 6. It does have a heating element, but it is concealed. When I opened it up abruptly, I received a faceful of water.
I got to try some very dirty loads as I don't like to prerinse, and I hate washing dishes by hand. Oh, it's smaller too. It uses condensation dry instead of heated dry.

loading patterns

What are the recommended loading patterns for this dishwasher? I've never played with a European dishwasher before but I'm willing to learn. I'm grateful to have a dishwasher in the first place. I have all Cascade products so I'm anxious to see how they work in a Bosch built Kenmore.

The Pots & Pans cycle meets NSF (National Sanitation Foundation) requirements.  It's the only choice for Sanitize.  There's no separate Sanitize option available for other cycles.  The Sanitized light on the display will illuminate when the cycle is complete if the required temperature is attained and held for the required amount of time.

The manual advises that the Sanitized light may fail to illuminate if the water supply temperature is too hot, which reduces water heating time and shortens the exposure time of the load.  Sanitizing involves not only the temperature of the water but also the length of time to which the dishware is exposed to the high-temp water.

That dishwasher is built by Bosch. The only cycle that has any sanitizing is the Pots and Pans cycle since it gets the wash portion up to 160F and the final rinse as well. I had a Bosch dishwasher that was here in the house that we live in here in FL and it did a decent job but my gawd was lacking in capacity and tine spacing for plates. But that said this dishwasher does NOT use all arms at once to clean the load. It will alternate between the lower and upper arms and on occasion the top shower. One thing is make sure that the filter is cleaned every month and use a toothbrush to get between the folds of the fine mesh screen. The other thing is that this dishwasher, or at least the Ascenta Bosch that I had , is that if one has chunky dishes like thick plates the tines are not forgiving , Corelle plates do quite well here since they are thin.

The Bosch that I had had the plastic sump area that was mated to the stainless steel part of the tub. There was no base pan in the one I had which kinda of surprised me when I took it out to install the current LG dishwasher that resides there now. The LG holds quite bit more and has more features that I love and everything comes out spotless.

dishwasher sanitize and spray power

I figured out that the pots and pans cycle did a sani rinse by default. I also activated the turbo clean option. Does it run the bottom arm longer or are there turbo jets that are hidden? I noticed that the bottom arm is forceful. I once got a faceful of water when I opened it quickly. It was during the smart wash.

dishwasher update

The dishwasher is still working. The serial# is 900552770. It was built in 2010 in December from what I was told and found out online. I don't see any turbo wash spray jets. It does run at normal and high pressures. How does turbo clean work if there's no turbo jets? I believe both arms run at once. I also use Cascade Complete in citrus breeze and Cascade power dry. I use the highest rinse aid setting and dry assist as well. It's still working after several challenging loads.

Does this model have a heated dry? Does it ramp the motor, purge, cycle the drain pump or anything like such? How many fills for a given cycle? I'd love this model in a timer control version. Bosch had a timer dishwasher in the early 2000s. Though I remember the wiring was as always more complicated than it needed to be.

Timer knobs are LOOONNGG GONE!! Normal, & Auto cycles offer prewash, a rinse (if soil is heavy enough then it will drain0, then main wash, and two rinses. The dishwasher will also do a partial fill & drain after the prewash, first rinse, and after main wash if needed to purge soil & debris that's sensed. Heavy does a hard preash, rinse, main wash, and two rinses. Each cycle offers different target temps and even varies based upon soil level senssed too. (At least on my Bosch that's 3 years old but I doubt sequences have changed much.) Heated dry is passive and is the final rinsee water temp on this dishwasher. It has an intensive or extra dry that raises final rinse temp even more. My model has what Bosch calls CrystalDry that is amazing using Zeolite. Drying result rival that of KitchenAid dishwashers from the 1950s-1970s. And I can put plastic items anywhere, no conccern about plastic melting. Drying temperature inside cabinet is said to be 176 to 178 degrees F. It's pure dishwasher heaven wasshing drying. Spray intensity is also adjusted for soil level.

Sounds nice, but far to complicated for my taste. I like the EM SHU series from 1998. They breezed right through with a single speed motor and offered 161*F final rinse temps.  Prewash-Rinse-Main Wash-Purge-Rinse-Final Rinse. They were simple, quiet and great machines. No electronics. Reasonable cycle times. They offered a Kenmore version too. How I miss these Bosch machines. The knob is like that of a Potscrubber.

Kenmore by Bosch

Mine doesn't have a heated dry option, but it does have what's called dry assist. I press normal and start at the same time, and the first thing that shows up is rinse aid level. I have it set to r:06. The second option if you press normal again is dry assist. I have it set to d:01. I don't think my dishwasher has extra jets for the turbo clean option. Rather, I believe it will add extra heat during the intermediate rinse as well as run at high pressure for a few minutes, then lower the pressure. I wonder what the logic was behind that was. It's interesting. Mine ramps up the pumps.[this post was last edited: 7/30/2024-17:47]
