Kenmore dishwasher - year built? cycle descriptions?

Hi all! I'm new to the site.. I was just trying to locate the user manual online for my Kenmore dishwasher and didn't realize there was such a following for vintage appliances! I moved into my current home two years ago. It was built in 1968 and I'm assuming the dishwasher, refrigerator, and double oven are original. I have the user manuals for the fridge and oven, but not the dishwasher. Do any of you guys know the model number, year built, and cycle functions based on these pictures (excuse the messiness)? I have been able to find the manuals for models with the dial, but not the push-buttons only. Thanks!

that dishwasher is a Kenmore UltraWash from 1987-90ish era.....most likely a porcelain tub, and a center tower that feeds the upper wash arm...

post the model and serial numbers and we should be able to date it exactly....

the cycle sequences...wash-rinse-dry....will be the same whether electromechanical, pushbutton, or touchpad...

Well after looking into my fridge and oven a little more, it looks like those were made in 1988, so the dishwasher was probably also made around then since the font and style seem to match the other appliances. I can't find a model or serial number on it though, so I would still love to find a user manual or at least some info on what each cycle does!

Try looking around the door edge and door frame for the model / serial data tag.

Rinse & Hold--2 rinses.

Light Wash--main wash and 2 rinses and dry

Water Miser --rinse, main wash, 2 rinses, and dry (final rinse heated to 140 probably)

Normal Wash-wash, rinse, main wash, 2 rinses, and dry (final rinse heated to 140 probably)

Pots & Pans--heated wash, rinse, heated main wash, rinse, heated rinse, dry

 

Water Heat option will heat water in the main wash to 145 degrees

Hot Rinse option heats the final rinse water from 140 to 145 or 150 degrees.

the model number plate should be just inside the door opening on the lower right hand side....

if Mark chimes in....he just found one of those machines brand new untouched....he would have a model number that would work for you.....

that machine will clean the chrome off a trailer hitch......in fact, you can bake and frost a chocolate cake...place inside...and it will be gone by the end of the cycle....GUARANTEED!!!....that was the UltraWash Challenge, trust me, I did it a number of times....

My bad! I was looking on the actual door for the model number, but it was inside the opening like Yogitunes said. Looked it up, and it was probably made in 1989.

Thank you appnut for the descriptions. What is power miser? Also, on which settings should I fill one of the detergent dispensers versus both?

I haven't tried the cake test, but this thing definitely gets the job done! There is a ring at the bottom that I am guessing heats the water, because I've lost a plastic cup or two because it fell to the bottom and melted!

Power Miser is cool/no-heat dry.  Detergent dosage--put detergent in only the covered cup for Light Wash.  Depending on soil level, if it's quite a bit, put detergent in open cup as well as covered cup for Water Miser, Normal Wash, and Pots & Pans.  No detergent for Rinse & Hold.
