I'm repairing a friend's 1973 Kenmore 800 series dryer. It needs a new console light. I think it's supposed to take a 26-inch fluorescent tube of 18 watts. I've found one locally, but it's 19 watts. Can I still use it, or will that damage something?

Thanks,
Dave

That is a pretty standard size. I never recall having an issue replacing it when I had my '73 Ladies. The dryer is in storage If I could get to it I'd look, but at this point it's not an option...

Dumb question but are you sure you have the pins in the socket correctly? More than once I though I had a tube set right and found that one or one set of pins is on the outside of the socket...
