What do you all think? Just bought a house and built in 68'. Orginal to the home, makes noise and stuff when I turn it on. Im thinking of getting rid of it, I would love to turn it into a project but the wife wants a new one. And it would be on the back burner for me. Any input would be helpful.

That machine looks like it has been hardly used, if it all. This machine is definitely worth saving for a collection or museum.

The other option is that you can use this machine as a daily driver, however, the plastisol lining does not last long. Most of these dishwashers rusted out in 5-7 years. Other than that is was not a terribly bad dishwasher, perhaps not the best ever built, but in some ways better than a lot of the newer ones.

This definitely must not have been used, you may be able to use this for a while, definitely test it out before you get a big load of dishes and decide it doesn’t work put some dishes in that are visibly soiled, some glasses in the upper rack that have peanut butter or something inside them to see if it actually is working.

Definitely take the lower panel off and leave it off and watch it for the first few loads to make sure nothing is leaking pump seal leaks, and trip shaft leaks for the drain valve or common on this machine. There’s also another dozen places that could leak.

There are people who are into vintage machines who may enjoy using an older less efficient machine, but if you’re used to a modern dishwasher, that’s much quieter and does a better cleaning job you may or may not be happy with this one.

Let us know what you find and if you have any other questions

John
