I am almost certain that is the dryer my aunt and uncle had in use for almost two years, although theirs was gas. They had it when they were renting a house in Vienna Virginia, and it was mated with their 1970 Model 500 Kenmore washer. As this dryer is a 1964/1965 model, they must have bought it second hand, since the time period they were renting was from 1972 - 1974. When they bought their home in McLean, they took it with them, but it could not be hooked up because the second floor laundry room had no gas line running to it. Instead, the dryer was put in the basement, and they bought a 1974 Model 70 Kenmore electric model to take its place. The dryer unfortunately was never used again. It sat in their basement for about 12 years until it was moved to the garage at my uncle's office. I tried to get a good look at the console when I last saw the dryer in their basement, but they had some stuff piled on top of it, so it was a little difficult. Somehow, I remember the console looking a little different than that of the dryer above. I could have sworn that the fluorescent light was where the chrome strip is (to the left of the dial), and that there was a plastic shield over that section of the console. However this is a memory that is now 35 years old, so I may be off on a couple of points. However, their dryer was definitely of the same era as the one pictured above. It had the same dial, safety start button, chrome lint filter hood, flat metal door handle of the early to mid 60s models, as well as the smaller drum opening from the same time period. The coloring and shading of the console was the same as this too. In the 13+ years that I have been on this site, I have never seen a Kenmore dryer model with a console matching exactly what I have been remembering, however since the dryer above is the closest fit, this must have been the model my aunt and uncle had. This dryer looks pristine, and hopefully will find a good home.
