You just know it has had countless bottle of laundry additives and/or laundry baskets s-l-i-d on top of it. I always put a towel on the top to protect it from wear.

They just keep going and going with minimal, inexpensive upkeep. Even removing this top is not that difficult so one could clean it, sand blast it, sand it and prime and paint it.
