They were owned by a family member who had them on a service contract. Despite them being noisy, Sear refused to quiet them down as long as they were "working". When the contract expired, a new set was purchased. I got these. Both the washer and the dryer work. A replaced the motor in the dryer, cleaned the lint out, dryer works fine. The washer works, needs some attention to the base plate as it squeaks when it shifts. I hate them to have to go, but need room for more important machines. If interested, send email.

Is there a story behind the jaundiced whirlpool compact FL in the front of the shot? I know it's a gawdawful machine as a condo we stayed in at the beach once had one but they are interesting to watch.

Oh yes! I do have the manuals for these units, and the dryer comes with that plastic rack-thing.

Jaime, I will have to measure it. I think the dryer is 29", we will see. If you can some how either pick them up or have someone do it for you, you can have them. They are still in the shed, so they can stay until next year. But they really do have to go, as I have a rare 16LB. 120V Dexter badged Primus commercial FL waiting for me!!

aladude,
The Whirlpool FL is more of the EU-style, has metal outer tub, built-in heater, 1600 RPM spin. It washes ~ 12LB. per load. This machine does work, it is missing the back, and this machine was given to me from another AW member. It uses almost no water, and is good to have, should I really need a small machine. It is about the same size as my Ariston W/D combo unit. You interested?

Those are the same as my daily drivers, love them. My machine is not in any way noisy, wonder what the problem is. Or perhaps they expect them to be silent. I don't know, it's never bothered me...

When I tested these machines they did make some bad noises. They don't quite make the cut to be used by the family. When the dryer was used ~ 2 months, someone would use the wrong settings and they would wonder why their clothes were still wet. The dryer was also used non-stop, and if the electronics were to fail, I'm sure I'd be footing the cost. In short the dryer is just too complicated for the majority of the family to use. The BOL Roper that I put in its place works perfect. The washer makes noise too, a squeaking and rubbing noise when agitating and more of a grunt when it spins up. I suspect the cam driver may need to be replaced, and the base plate may need to be looked at. This set could have been made better, I think the 95-96 set of these are. There is rust in the corners of the lid on the washer. In general these sets look nice, but are problematic and costly to repair when they are used very heavily. Here is a picture of the dryer when the family was using it.

Hey supremewhirlpol

Do you realize your AW profile is completely devoid of information? Name, e-mail address, location, etc.

Kinda difficult to send you an e-mail this way.......

I just thought I'd mention it.
