Hello everyone - Happy New Year!

I have a new Kenmore Elite DW. I really like the way it cleans -- it replaced a troublesome GE Triton. My only complaint is that it seems louder than I would expect for an $850 DW. Does anyone out there have the same model? What do you think? Just curious...

Thanks for your thoughts!

John - Westchester, NY

I have model 17264, the previous version of this w/o TurboZone II and the optical soil sensor. It's quiet enough for me, and the noise level is great compared to other peoples' dishwashers I've hear operating. My active vent started to not close fully during the pre-wash, increasing the noise level, but it's still pretty quiet. I find the more dishes placed, the quieter it sounds Keep in mind that this was my first dishwasher, so I personally don't have anything to compare the noise level to.

I have the 13782

And mine is nearly whisper quiet. Like you I love the way the machine cleans. I was actually a bit timid about buying a Tall Tub machine with all the bad press they seem to be getting. But this diswasher cleans just as well as my old Maytag Jetclean did. And it's quieter. Did yours have the sound insulation pad that is slipped underneath the dishwasher after the install was complete?

Chris

No, mine never came with an installation pad. Did yours? Mine was QuietGuard 7, the level below QuietGuard 11

Thanks for the feedback...

I'll have to look and see if there's an insulation pad on the bottom of the machine. I was also surprised at how much more this machine seems to hold. My old GE had the tower "dead space" in the center of the lower basket. This machine, with the tall tub holds a lot! It still surprises me...and the TurboZone works like a charm. Eats the nastiest messes right up!

:)

John, yes a wide-open bottom rack with no cutouts for towers & such does make a difference. And that includes the older WP PowerClean & WP-produced Kenmore UltraWash dishwashers with the little funnel thign in them iddle of the bottom rack to direct that water stream up to the upper wash arm below the bottom rack. GE TTs hold 16 places settings, I've counted the rows of tines on the bottom rack, and it can do it.

JonV112...I have the Ultra Quiet Guard sound package on mine. That pad underneath really deadens the motor/pump noise. For the most part when my dishwasher is running all you can really hear is the "swish" once in a while. And if the house is noisy, forget about it.

Askimagain..I agree with you about that TurboZone. That things cleans the crudiest stuff off my baking dishes, pots and pans. At first I thought it was a gimmick but after using it on a lasange pan that wasn't rinsed with burned bits in the corners, I was a believer. Nothing was left! So after about 8 months with this machine I can honestly say I am very pleased with it.

Noisy Kenmore

I have the previous year's model of your dishwasher. It was very quiet for a long time, however the motor started going out after less than one year. I had to have the motor replaced once it got so loud I couldn't hear the TV in the next room over it. (Very loud humming) Since the newest of the new motors is in now it's VERY quiet. I hope you aren't having the same problem!

I have the same model as the previous poster, but in bisque. Jons1077, did yours come with a bottom insulation pad, packaged in the tub, that you had to put in manually? Thanks!

Hmm...

The noise patterns are interesting. It's silent as it is filling -- makes noticible noise as it feeds the different wash arms. It quiets as it is washing/rinsing. It makes more noise again when it drains - a grinding, for lack of a better description.

Is this a Whirlpool made model?

BTW - nice kitchen Jon!

noises...

yup...they are whirlpool. The grinder is pretty noisy. The wash and rinse is rather quiet though. I always had the cheaper apartment dishwashers until this one and it's rather nice as long as it's working. And thanks!!! Redid the kitchen myself and very happy with it!

Wow...

I'm impressed! We've been thinking about remodeling here. Such a major expense - and I don't have the doityourself ability to tackle such a big project.

Thanks for the feedback about the DW too. :)
