I have a Kenmore Elite front load washer with accela-wash. It's the one with the auto soak feature. I have a question about the accela-wash option. I've noticed when the bleach dispenser fires up, so does the spray rinse jet. Same thing happens during the spray rinse. Why does it do that? I ran the diagnostic mode with the dispenser taken out. Water did flow through the bleach valve. When I opened the door to the washer after the test, water started dripping from the fresh water nozzle. How powerful is the rinse jet when fresh water is at full blast? I did hear water hitting the back of the drum when the bleach dispenser was activated. Please explain.

active rinse

I think it would make more sense if the active rinse ran during the spray rinses separately from the bleach dispenser. I don't understand why they designed it that way. I guess they were trying to rinse out the bleach dispenser during dispensing and spray rinse cycles.

I don't understand why LG FL washers waist time flowing cold water for a fraction of a second 4 or 5 times when you first start a cycle, rather than just getting it going like other brands do.

That's another thing...

That's another thing too. Also, I don't understand why the spray rinse nozzle would come on when dispensing bleach when the bleach valve is activated or vice versa during spray rinse. I don't understand why the fabric softener valve turns on and off during the final rinse instead of just running constantly. I also don't understand why the circulation pump would run during tumbling then turn off during the main wash instead of running constantly as it does during final rinse. Can anybody help me make this sense to me? It is very intriguing to me.

Filling and draining

I think the reason for filling fraction of a second 4-5 times for mixing the detergent. For liquid detergent it would take a while for water to drain out. Same goes for powder.
As for draining turning on and off, I wonder if it has to do with efficiency. Or the pump stops to allow dirt and grit to settle at the bottom of the pump to help get the gunk out.
Really I don’t know the answer, just my observation.

Fabric softener turns on/off so it can drain/siphon during the off periods for a more complete flush, helps avoid some residual softener clinging to the cup surface.  Calypso and Catalyst softener dispensers flush twice with an off-period between.  Calypso flushes the bleach reservoir several times during course of the rinses that follow the initial dispense, but Catalyst (which has the same type of bleach dispenser) doesn't.

tumble motion, active spray and active rinse

I noticed on my Kenmore Elite front loader during the normal/casual cycle that the washer will do various tumble motions like ramping up spinning during filling, jerking and doing regular tumbles. This is especially true when the accela-wash is active. Mine has 2 ports at the 8 and 4 positions whereas the spray nozzle is at the top of the door. Why does the active rinse nozzle activate when dispensing bleach? During the final rinse, the circulation pump runs constantly. Which ports are active? This is my dad's washer and I'm responsible for doing the laundry. I use the accela-wash for every cycle that it is available on, particularly the normal/casual and whites cycles, and sometimes heavy duty. Does water come out of the entire nozzle at the top of the door or just the right part of the nozzle where it is the most pressurized? The only way I can tell is when the machine is on spin cycle and I hear water tapping against the back of the tub. I wish I could run it with the door open so I can see the magic happen but don't want to get the floor wet.

Rinse jet design

My guess is that the rinse jet is designed with the hoses connecting to the bleach dispenser in a y configuration. My assumption is that is dual purpose where water flows through the bleach dispenser and through the rinse jet. Suppose Eugene from Lorain furniture can confirm.
