Kenmore heats water with steam?

Hi, ok maybe this is a stupid question, but does kenmore heats its water by adding steam? Is this new or allready used in commercial washers? Thought the water was heated by passing steam through a pipe in the wash water so it was indirect heated...

I have not seen any domestic (home-use) machines in the USA that use steam indirectly [i.e. through a heat-exchanger pipe or "coil"] or directly to heat water.

I have seen this in LARGE commerical /industiral applications, however.

It is interesting to note that I saw steam-heated front-load washers in a coin-operated laundromat in Amsterdamn, Holland upon my vist there a decade or so ago. The dryers there were also steam-heated.

As a side note, Most homes in the USA do not use steam OR hot water for heating. Warm-air furnaces are used when ther eis indeed central heating. (Not all regions of this country need central heating). Seam heating basically was installed until the late 40's in cold climates.
