Every time I use my KSM 100 (Christmas!) I wonder who made it. If you search the enet, you'll see that the one you can buy through Sears is a KA clone. BUT if search harder you will find mine. 16 speed, 5.7 qt bowl. It will take KA accessories, but not the KA bowl. There in lies the rub, I want another bowl but can't figure out who made the damn thing! I bought mine on the enet, years ago from some shady ebay site. I tried Appliance 411 but no luck. Any suggestions?

Hmm...

That's a weird one. While petek's right that it has an overall resemblance to a Ham Beach, HB's don't have the power take-off at the front of the mixer head, the way your Kenmore does. That take-off is in the same place it would be for a KitchenAid-built machine. What I'm thinking is that you either have a KitchenAid-built machine with a special, Kenmore-only bowl (Whirlpool, owner of KitchenAid, has had a relationship with Sears for decades), or you have a Chinese-built KitchenAid clone. Some Chinese products copy other brands very closely.

You may just have to bite the bullet and pay the Sears Parts Central price for another bowl. A word of advice - if this is a Chinese-built machine, I personally would purchase a second electronic control unit (the piece where the pushbuttons are) and put it away in case of future failure. Sears is the dad-ratted worst about discontinuing parts and stranding you with an unrepairable appliance. I used to have almost nothing but Sears. Several major letdowns later, I've phased all Sears out of my life. If this is KitchenAid built, then the electronic parts will probably cross over to some KA or Whirlpool part number, and you'll be okay in future.

It is also possible that Ham Beach makes the machine, and they put a power take-off on the Sears version, but in that case, I can't imagine that KA beaters, etc. would fit.

Dane, thanks for the followup. Interestingly enough Sears has no parts for this machine. No bowls, no beaters. They do have the KA clone beaters for that machine. My beaters don't "twist-lock" mine have two pins and "snap-in"

Cuffs:

I'm sorry this is being so problematic. This is why I no longer do Sears stuff; parts are too much of a problem, and when they are available, they're way too expensive.

I hope you get some sort of a break that helps you find what you need.

Country of Origin:

petek:

I'm not sure if United States law has changed, or if the law isn't being followed, but nowadays, you see products with "Imported" marked on them, with no country-of-origin info at all. A lot of things do say where they're from, though.

Petek, it's amazing what you can find if you turn an appliance over! The mixer says "made in china". It also says "This mixer can be used with the following KitchenAid accessories" and gives a whole list. The model number is listed as 238.69253. I'm glad I just bought a NuWave oven to amuse me, the mixer is driving me nuts!

In my life quest to find another bowl for this mixer I fianlly found out it was made by SALTON. Of course, Salton has no parts for it. Anybody got a bowl that might fit? I'll be glad to buy from you.
