Ok guys, this is a new one for me. My aunt asked me to look at her Kenmore laundry center tonight, the dryer won't shut off. When you set the timer, and turn the start switch, it starts up, and the timer advances just fine, but it keeps on advancing right through the off portion of the timer, and comtinues into the next cycle. It does this whether you choose auto dry, or timed dry, or permanent press. The only way to shut off the dryer is to open the door.
For right now she is setting a kitchen timer each time she turns on the dryer, and checking on the clothes when the timer goes off, but we both know this isn't very safe, especially since she is in poor health and having to take some rather strong medications which make her drowsy.
I can't find a model number on the laundry center, any help in locating it and figuring out why the timer won't stop would be very much appreciated. It is one of the newer style laundry centers, with the plastic tub and dual action agitator. I also noticed the tub was indexing quite a lot, is this normal? Repair is the only option, as her laundry area will not fit anything except a laundry center or stacked front loaders, and her finances won't bear the cost of replacement. Please help guys.
