My German friend who bought the Keymatic from me has finished it's restauration. The machine was used as a basis to make two machines out of one. There is only one more thing left, he needs a new belt for this machine. It's the round belt, not the flat one. Can anyone help with this or does anyone have a suggestion what could be used as an alternative?

I have several of the round belt. I will check what condition they are in. I have one ready to go to the UK and I'm pretty confident I have more good ones.

you can also get modern round section belts. The original ones are like rubberized rope, the new ones are some sort of plastic.

I have put a link to redthane belt in Australia, but don't order any till I have checked what old belts I have here.

try this...

It is a cut-to-length substitute belt, round section. Brand name is Mackay Redthane.
You cut the belt to length, then join the ends with a metal joiner or by plastic welding. It is stretchy compared to original but it works, Mike in UK had a red belt on his machine.
A similar urethane belt was sold here as a non-genuine replacement part for Keymatics, too.

Hi Louis

I have a good belt.

The belt I have is in good used condition. Remember it is 40 years old but it has no cracks - I can't see anything wrong with it.

I'm happy to give it to your friend, just reimburse me for the postage cost.

If you can email me the address I can post it on Thursday, I'm posting a box of parts (pulsator, belts and others) to Alex in the UK on the same day.

If you friend is making one good machine out of two, does he have a spare keyplate? Alex in UK still needs a keyplate.

Best Wishes

Chris.

Hi Louis and chris,
I've been away and not checked in for a while and have just come across this thread.
Just wanted to say thanks for thinking of me.
All the best
Alex
