Kirby Generations

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Hi Jamie,

The Generation 3 was introduced in 1990 and came after the Legend II. Before that, there was the Heritage II/Legend series. If I'm not mistaken, the reasoning behind this was that the older Kirbys like your Dual Sanitronic were labeled as the 1st-generation models, and the large machines from the Classic on were labeled as the 2nd-generation models. The G3 was basically that; Kirby's 3rd-generation machine as well as the third redesign.

Generations

Kirby Generations are as follows:
Generation 1: models 1C thru D80

Generation 2: Classic 1CR, Omega, Classic III, Tradition, Heritage I & II and Legend I & II

Generation 3 and up have been the self propelled models since 1991

REx I wonder when Kirby will have the new sentria on there website, I'm still curious as to what they look like

Skip...

Skip:So do I Anytime I have checked it-Kirby has not upgraded their website-think their webmaster has to get on the ball-the dealer distributor that sold me mine has sold some more-Kirby is shipping them out for sale.you would think Kirby would be proud of their Sentria and show it on their website so people would write in for a demo..It is a fine machine. Will it be the last of the "G" sereies machines??time will tell-I guess three or four years from now.

Rex is the Sentria made very similar to the G4 as I was told that today that it looks just like the G4 except that it has a different handle and the rug nozzle belt lifter is made different

Yes the basic design of the Sentria is similar to the G4-but the belt lifter is indeed different-the "crank" style that started on the G5.The Sentria has the dome Mini emptor bag boot that started on the G6-greater airflow than the G3 or G4.Yes the handle is indeed much diffrent-has a diffrent pitch so that it is easier to hold and push-and of coarse-the LED headlight. The height adjust pedal is marked with numbered height settings-not the mere notches as on older G's.The tech drive is smoother than the G4.The brushroll is diffrent than the G4 as well-has brush "tufts" multiple rows instead of the cheveron rows as on the G4-G6.The Sentria has a slightly diffrent "sound" to it than the other "G" models.I would love to take pictures of my machine-but don't have a camera.I keep trying the Kirby website to see if they have info on the new machine to link to.Time to check again--Just looked-they still have their website that shows the Diamond G.

Hey Rex:

I saw a picture of the sentria today I want one and can you believe there is one already listed on ebay, and yet there not on the kirby site yet, don't understand that one

Skip...

Skip:I would suggest that you contact the local Kirby distributor in your area and see if they have any Sentrias available-if so tell them you would be interested-I don't know if they are available in your area-would think they would be-you shouldn't have to pay mre than $1350 for the machine-try to see the price on the box.The Kirby folks are not supposed to sell them for higher than the price marked on the package.I know you have to go thru the demo and pay the price-but its worth it buying from the Kirby guy-at least the machine is under warranty no matter what they say---the Kirby Company CANNOT warranty any machine sold over EBay or other non Dealer-unless the dealer delivors and demos the machine in your home.I just looked as well-kirby has not upgraded their website as I type this-2:30A EDT.Lots of luck getting your Sentria and hope you enjoy it as I do!If your Kirby salesman is good-the demo is quite enjoyable. If there isn't a Kirby dealer in your area-go to the website and request a demo-the Kirby folks would then contact the dealer closesest to you. Most of the time local Kirby dealers are listed in the local phone book.

Kirby on EBAY

Saw the Kirby Sentria on EBay-many times Kirby requests that the sale be pulled off EBAY.If you should want that one bid while you can.But remember there will be no factory warranty. And that machine is inelegible for factory rebuilds.$89 for shipping?? questionable on that-sounds high to me.

Hey Rex

I don't think I will bid on any on ebay as like You say there come with no warranties at all, so I would rather just buy one from the dealer instead

Skip...

Skip-Good move-thats your best bet-You can then see for yourself that the machine is BRAND NEW-the Kirby guy just unpacked it in front of you out of the box.Something about a new Kirby...That beautiful Kirby shine--no one else can duplicate it.Whats their secret? Please enjoy your new Kirby-and see the new thread on the Kirby Sentria. That will show you what it looks like.
