This is my kitchen Aid dishwasher that I'm selling because I'm going to a stainless steel kitchen. I've only owned this for a year or two and used every other day. It works perfect and looks perfect. There's one side that has a few small spots that are very light. I was told it was from the early 70's but i don't know. I have the book with it. I'm asking seven fifty.

Hi David, I paid a thousand for the dishwasher last year. I'd like to get as close to what paid for it as i can.Honestly i'm in no hurry to sell it,so i'm not going to take anything to get rid of it,but if your interested, what would you think a fair price is? The thing is like new. Thanks for your input I like hearing other peoples thoughts. So let me know what think a fair price is? That is if your really interested in it.
thanks! Dj

DJ in December 1983 we bought a Kitchenaid Superba convertible DW brand new which is the TOL. I bought it right from the Hobart Dealer in our town. Total cost was $714. It is the one in my profile picture. The rack on the bottom of yours is not the correct one, it should have the tines for the dinner plates that go down the center of it. That rack goes with the series that KA called load as you like, which had a wash arm under top rack and the 4-way hydrosweep under the bottom rack.

Thanks for letting me know

Hey thank you so much for letting me know that. I had no idea about the rack. The previous owner never told me about it not being the right one.I don't no anything about kitchen aid. I'm only familiar with GE dishwashers. It was good to see your dishwasher, my grandmother had a white one like that. I don't know the model but it looked like yours...brought back some happy memories seeing that pic. Thanks so much for the info.

$750 !?!

DJ, you paid $1,000 last year for used KA? I’m shaking my head, because that makes absolutely no sense, no common sense. I’m not trying to be mean. But I see them all over the place (online, not locally) for about $100. Usually less. The poor folks can’t give them away. I found mine locally for $75. I’m in touch with another person online that is willing to remove any parts I want for $50 plus shipping (so I can have backups)
If your story is believable ( and I’m sorry, I don’t think it is), you paid 10 times what it’s worth. Nonsense.
But, if you are firm on your 750, truly you are better off keeping it and enjoy it in some kind of way because no one with a brain cell will pay that for used and unrestored vtg KA. Again, I’m not trying to be mean, just stating what I have seen in the market.

One Arm Wonder

DJ, by the standards of most people on this site, you overpaid when you bought the dishwasher. If you're happy with the price and the machine then really it doesn't matter what any of us think. I will have to agree with the others in that it's not likely you would get more than about $200 from people on this site.

As far as the rack is concerned. It must be difficult to get your large dinner plates on one side or the other because of the shape of the upper rack unless they are really small. The large plates are intended to go down the middle as in the attached. You should see if you can find a rack like this one as it will enable you to use the rack as the machine was designed to do.

Oh it's very true

Yes my posting is very true. I absolutely have no reason to lie or don't know why I would. I bought that dishwasher last year on eBay. Someone on here had the link on their page and that's how I found out about it. The guy in fact who had the posting on ebay was pretty gruff and straight forward. He said something like you dishwasher and appliance collectors don't bothering writing me if you think i'm going to come down on the price and i'd scrap it first before I sold it below my price and on and on. It was a really gruff posting and he was just as gruff to deal with believe me. I can't believe others on here don't remember the posting it was so rude. He should have paid me a thousand dollars just to deal with him. Anyway I saw the dishwasher, I really liked the dishwasher so I bought it. It's pretty straight forward no lies. Like I said to the other guy who gave me feed back the other day.I have no idea or know anything about kitchen aids. All I know is, I really liked it so I didn't cry and whine about the price I just bought it. That's the way I am though if I see something I like I just buy it. I always say nothing is too expensive when you really want something. If I can't sell it I'll just keep it. I don't have anyone breaking my arm to get rid of it.Anyway like I told the other guy, thank you for your feed back, i Appreciate it. I don't know much about appliances expect for GE and Frigidaire they are my two favorites. Have a great day! Dj

eBay cranky

I remember seeing the post on eBay with him saying I’ll just scrap it. He had another dishwasher that I was interested in but I figured he wouldn’t be too user friendly, so I decided against purchasing it.

Your a smart guy

Thanks! You know what i'm talking about. I was really surprised for someone being so gruff when they were trying to sell something. He didn't want to negotiate. He had his price and that was it. So I guess he cut out the comments all together because he didn't want to hear them.

Hey I can give it all to you

Dave-I have the old cabinets in the garage The refrigerator and stove too. They're old Kenmore's. The kitchen aid runs perfect, like new. In fact I was told that it was hardly used and I believe that because it even has the plastic wrap on it around some of the chrome molding parts that are to hard to get to, to get it off. Beside if you buy a new dishwasher the're well over a thousand or at least the ones I've looked at and am interested in. So for seven fifty for an old but almost new dishwasher with out a scratch or rust on it. I think its worth 750.00 besides that kind of money is nothing now days. Buy the dishwasher and i'll throw in the old kitchen and the Kenmore's too for buying the dishwasher. Lol. Have a good night! Dj

DJ,

The Deluxe model you have is in great condition but it's a lower-end unit regards to features, equivalent to the Custom which is the lowest of the three built-in models that were offered (Superba, Imperial, Custom). Portable units (frontload and topload) of the time were offered only in the top and bottom trimlines. I have 18 pics (two below) saved on 8/1/2021 that may be the original sale ($995?). Model KDD-67B, serial 221372014? It had the correct lower rack in those photos, if so. The rack you have was with the machine when you took possession of it?

This Is The One

Hey thanks so much for getting in touch. Thanks for explaining about the different models. Yes I just checked the model number and this is the one. A guy in an older post mentioned something about the rack also and At the time I was confused because I didn't add a different rack to his dishwasher. The rack I got was in here when I bought it. After reading his post that got me thinking and when the dishwasher was shipped and on it's way to me I remember The seller calling me and telling me the movers picked up the dishwasher and it was on the way and then said I had two dishwashers and had the wracks out when they were picking it up. I grabbed the wrong rack and put it in your dishwahser. It wasn't until after the dishwasher was gone that I noticed I put the wrong rack in yours. Then he said they were the same thing and it would work just as well. I notice though when you put the big plates in on the side they hit the top rack when you push it in and pull it out. That's the dishwasher though. Thanks so much for letting me know. I'm glad you did, have a great day! Dj

Lower rack

Hi DJ, if you decide to continue to use this dishwasher I'm willing to bet someone on the site has a spare they may give or sell to you. With the proper rack you shouldn't have the issue with plates rubbing and you might enjoy using the dishwasher even more than you do now.

Thanks!

I love the little dog in the picture what a cutie.Yes, I think I might keep the dishwasher and use it. Maybe that would be better to do to get my money out of it. I paid all that money and then having it shipped. I thought I was getting a good deal. There where some other washers that I bought, I now think I really overpaid for. Thanks for mentioning about looking for the right rack. I think maybe that's what i'll do. I really like the dishwasher, the only reason I was selling it was I changed the flooring to like a dark slate color in my kitchen and I bought stainless steel refrigerator and stove. The old kitchen aid stood out like a sore thumb. Who knows keeping that might add a little bit of light into a room I turned dark. Thanks for getting in touch and thanks for throwing some ideas out there for me.Have a good morning! Dj

I love the little dog in the picture what a cutie. Thank you. She’s gone now. She lives on a shelf in the family room. We miss her. She was a part of the family and ruled this household.

I thought I was getting a good deal. The way I see it is if you think it was a good deal and you like it then it was a good deal. Everybody is different in their opinion on this. This is my favorite series of KA dishwashers. Don’t ask me why but I love the machines where the dishes go down the middle of the rack. I have a KDS 17A that I would use as our primary in a heartbeat but my husband bitches about the loading so I use it as a second dishwasher when I feel like it.
