That is from the beginning of the 16-series, probably 1969, as it does not have the Soak Cycle--only a Heavy Soil cycle that had an extra pre-rinse. The later model with Soak Cycle still had "HEAVY SOIL" engraved in the chrome trim below the buttons, and said "SOAK" on the plastic panel between the button and the trim.

This is my favorite KitchenAid. I love the bold Daily Use/Party designations and the way the door latch is neatly integrated when latched. THAT didn't happen again until the 21 series.

I'm beginning to think that KA didn't sell a single KDS-16 in Illinois. It seems like you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a 17 series, though. Maybe that's because they made the 16 series for less than 3 years and the 17/17A for nearly 6.
