Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

I agree that these are Duets in a different wrapper. KA & Whirlpool are basically one and the same with regard to large appliances.

I also agree that they're not all that attractive.

The dryer was made by ADC, ADC stands for American Dryer Corporation for anyone who doesn't know! They don't make ANY washers! The washer is a re-wrapped, re-badged Whirlpool Duet. The dryer I could see being worth the price they are asking for new, but the washer... I would NEVER even THINK about forking over that much cash for a Duet washer! YIKES!!!!

Umm, OK... but......

WHY.... would WP re-badge the Duet for the washer and NOT the dryer???

When I looked at the KA versions in EXPO and Great Indoors a couple years ago I could tell instantly they were both re-badged WP units!!

ADC makes NOTHING but dryers , Jamie , thanks for clearifiyi

but they do rebadge for a number of others . Milnor for one. they are on e bay for a song quite often.

Had ADC in the other plant and are not really that great of machines. Cissell and Huebsch both dry better . But the fastest dryers of them all are the Dexters Dryers they will outdry any other maker.

Jamie's spot-on, a Duet by any other name...

I recall they had some bugs to work out with these dryers right after they came out but that's the case with most new designs.

Roger and I drooled over these dryers for a long time at the local NFM store when they were still available for sale in retail. Radial drying system, robust and impressive construction details. All good except the price! We joked how cute it would be to pay $3000 for a dryer and park it next to a BOL Direct-Drive Kenmo' washer!

I still want one. (dryer - the washer would have to be almost free!)

The washer was a rebadged Duet for sure, but the dryer was not. If you ever saw one close up and looked inside the machine, it looks NOTHING like a Whirlpool design, but rather looks like a commercial dryer you would find in a laundromat. It is also larger than the matching Duet dryer with a metal drum, not painted enamel or stainless steel, with holes all across the back of the drum, not the traditional Whirlpool design. So these are ADC dryers.

Hey guy's according to my former whirlpool rep, the machine has a little more heft to the package which I did feel when we saw them at a home show the shocks and spring's are more robust and that is the extent of it . And the casing is strong in insulation still we think in our company that they where overpriced, which the washer went for 5000.00 buck's and the pedestal's a whopping 500.00 each. My boss sold two pair to this very wealthy gentlemen who wanted the best for his wife who...get this... got a Miele 24' pair and she did not like them because of the drum size, they where the stainless pair, the gentlemen called.. and exchanged them for the Kitchenaid pair.
Go figure.
