found this at a thrift shop.....really liked the glass bowl.....paid 12.99 for it.....think I might put a betta in there with a few stones and put it on display.....but I'll leave the beater out, knowing my kids they'll turn it on to give him a whirlpool....

it's a model 3-B...has a unique beater, although not a very big bowl...and it's missing the front KA cover for the powerport...anyone know what year this was made?

Kelly will be able to tell you right off the top of his head. I received the 4C he found while at his granddaughter's in Kansas last August. Mine has the same beater (all-purpose beater) and a similar glass bowl. That's a 3 quart mixer model. The 4C would be 4 quart.

Model 3B

This mixer first debuted in 1937 with a 3 speed motor and odd whip/paddle combo. It was sold door to door. The model run changed to 10 speeds and added the all purpose snap in beater in the early 40's. The Model 3C replaced it 1950 with a larger handle and integrated speed control. The whip on the 3C has a slot that fits onto the drive pin with a push and twist spring loaded washer to keep it in place. In 1960 the 4C came on line which was identical but the bowl help 1 more quart and the all purpose beater was widened. That model ended in 1973.

Thank you for the info on the 3-B, I always wondered how old mine was. I got in in about 1970 at a dump, this was before garage sales & when someone died, the family hauled all the stuff to the dump. At that time, you could still get the bowl from Kitchenaid. I love mine, I bake a lot & make a lot of Christmas cookies, a real joy to use!!

Very nice find Martin,

I have the same model KitchenAid, I got mine in mint condition with the glass bowl at a flea market last year for $5.

I only use mine for making frostings, I don't much care for a KitchenAid, my preferance is any of my Mixmasters.

seen it, and kept debating about getting it, so I did....a neat looking piece, and I do have a new Ultra power one also....I can't say I'm impressed with them, I never understood why they say 10 speed, and yet there's only five notched selections!....

but I'm with you Sam, give me a Mixmaster any day....I have more than I care to count, and extra bowls galore, which I like when mixing, I never have to stop, just grab the next one and keep on going.....I also have a kitchen center (oster), the only thing I miss with this machine is you can't lift the head to spin off the beaters
