Since it will be years before I can gut the kitchen and start all over and I couldn't stand looking at it another minute, I've spent the last 2 months or so doing an update on a budget. Total spent was $500, but $300 of that was the floor and that was paid for by a gift card for switching back to Verizon Fios (Thank you Verizon!)
Most of my time was spent on repairs...crumbling wall behind the stove, caulking gaps and cracks, stripping and repainting cabinets. The people I bought the house from slapped some paint on the cabinets and never primed them first. So every time I touched a cabinets, the paint came off in strips. The cabinets are from 1969 and are cherry but they were too far gone to do anything other than re-paint them.

Your new cabinet and drawer pulls are attractive. I'd like to replace ours with something nicer.

Thanks for the comments. The floor is the "Allure" floating floor also from the HD. It comes in 3 x 1 planks that attach to each other and not the sub floor, really pretty easy to install and should be very durable. The only problem was when I pushed the washer back in place, the hose developed a small leak and was leaking for a week before I noticed it. The water was going in between the new floor and the old sheet vinyl floor. I didn't notice it until I stepped on a spot and water came up from the seems. Fortunately, I was able to take up some of the floor and get some fans to dry it out before anything warped. I really should get a floor pan for the washer now.
