If they can get that price for that mixer then i have the same exact one that I would love to let go of.If I sold mine I was not going to let go of the glass bowl but for that price they can have it.
I must move mine to a safe! My mother found my 3-C at a garage sale in Missouri when we lived there in the late 1980s. She paid $4.00 for it. They were originally asking $8.00 and my mother always would try to bargain. It's still going strong.
Sorry for the late response, but I am staying with a friend at the moment. I already thought this was way too expensive, but I'm not an expert on vintage mixers. I will follow the auction see if anyone will bid on this.
The beaters and bowls have more value than the mixer istelf since replacements are not available. I am currently bidding on a bowl for a 4C that will likely go for $65.00 or more. As long as it is a 220 model and not run from a convertor it is likely a fair price based on US pricing and sales from ebay. The 3B is not as sought after as the 3C and the 4C is even more salable.
I am glad you're home again and hope you had a pleasant time away. The 4C may have one of 4 issues. It could be the points in the switch are not making connection. This can be a result of sitting in the off position for too long and once in a great while it is a result of over heating that causes the contact strips to warp. It could be that someone removed the brushes and put them back incorrectly. A slim and none would be the power cord. The fourth possibility is the field that may have burned out. In their old age the 3 and 4Cs would begin to smoke under load and progressed quickly down hill from there. I have an extra if you find this one is DOA.
