pictured below is my old Kitchenaid blender I have had for at least 7 years...possibly up to 9 years... I can't remember..

I love it except for dealing with the pitcher leaking. When I first got it, it came with a glass pitcher..leaked! Kitchenaid sent me another blade and it leaked too. Then they sent me a plastic pitcher which also leaked, just not nearly as bad...so I've just always dealt with it.. It wasn't a bad leak...just a slight leak you could see where the pitcher meets the base as it's blending..I use it every single day! I'm not sure...but I think the problem is the base of my blender causing the pitchers to leak...At least that's what I read could be possible when researching..

anyway....

I was able to get a new Kitchenaid blender for $62.01 (hasn't arrived yet) also pictured below. I'm pretty sure Kitchenaid doesn't make this model anymore. I really wanted their newest model but as long as this one doesn't leak I'm sure it will be fine. There are differences in the diamond model vs the one I have. It looks like the base is smaller and the pitcher is larger and locks on...from videos I've seen of people using them...I noticed it has slow start which keeps things from splashing up on startup...mine doesn't have slow start...I hope I like the new one. I really love the looks of their lastest model though

Is there a reason you don't want a vintage one? I have two Osterizers from the 60s/70s and they are beasts! One was my mom's, the other my dad's. Their motors are strong and they were made so well back then. Mine have chrome bodies but the later versions with plastic bodies are also well made. Mine had glass pitchers but I prefer metal so I bought a steel one and it fits/works perfectly. I keep an eye out for the rubber gaskets on ebay because the new ones aren't made as well.

TIP: Always wash blender gaskets by hand. Repeated trips through the dishwasher dry them out and they'll crack or leak. (learned that the hard way.)

I linked a similar model to what I have. You can find them at garage/estate sales and thrift shops and of course ebay.

I never thought of a vintage one. anyway, I never run mine through dishwasher.. I always wash it by hand....there are no gaskets on the kitchenaid...It's the pitcher and the lid and the base...that's it..cleanup is super easy.I got it today...used it and it works great and so far no leaks.

We had a KitchenAid blender for a while.  It worked well with no leaks.  It was an older model with, IIRC, round bubble-like buttons.  I was gifted a vintage Sears (Osterizer clone) blender and became a big fan for their versatility (any glass vessel with a mason jar thread will work on it instead of a carafe), and there is a range of interchangeable blades to choose from:  Standard, Ice Crusher, Fusion (my favorite) and Milkshake.   There's also a mini food processor attachment, which I have.

The "Cyclomatic" option is another Osterizer feature I like.  It offers the ability to automatically pulse for about a minute before going into continuous blend mode.  That feature may have changed at some point, since I have seen Cyclomatic types that stop after pulsing.  I don't know which came first.

Finally, all Osterizer blade assemblies (gasket, blade, bottom cap) are interchangeable, except perhaps for the earliest models with smooth sided caps, which may only work with earlier the earlier base design.  The direct drive design hasn't changed since the beginning, and parts are widely available.

If the new KA develops issues, a nicely featured Osterizer from the mid-'60s to around 1980 would be something to consider.

Yea I will definitely look at ebay for the vintage blenders....when I looked at the link I immediately thought "that looks exactly like my grandma's blender"... back then when you bought something you had it for decades with rarely any issues.

I remember when I first got that kitchenaid blender a long time ago... I remember reading reviews on Amazon about it leaking...that was an issue...but it must have only been an issue with "some" of them because lots of people never had issues...I'm not sure but hopefully when they redesigned this diamond model (which is an old model at this point) they fixed the leaking...I noticed no leaking at all thank God..because other than that... I really do love their blenders. If there's one countertop appliance I can't be without it's a blender.
